Biopsy with topical and injected lidocaine
All: Just had second biopsy due to slowly rising PSA and slightly high (36.5) PCA3. First biopsy with no topical or injected lidocaine. Was dreading the second one. Wasted worry. The most painful part was getting the ultrasound probe in (I have hemorrhoids). Doc just put more topical pain killer in and that helped. I…

Hello all, I've already discussed with you about my friend's situation of pT0 (Vanishing prostate cancer phenomenon). A reminder: Biopsy showed carcinoma in 1/12 prostate tissues, Gleason score 8. Very large prostate size (about 120 gr). He is determined to do a DNA test to check if there is no mix-up with his biopsy. I've…

Masturbation Prevents PCa?
I heard Dr. Oz say that masturbation prevents PCa one day and decided to check it out. Older studies seem to suggest the contrary but one fairly recent study suggests that high masturbation levels for men between 20-50 in Australia was correlated w/a lower incidence of PCa but, as they say, more research is needed. See:…

One month post CK PSA
Although it means little in the overall scheme of results, my health provider (Kaiser- who would not pay for CK) encouraged me to get a follow-up PSA, which was exactly one month post CK treatment on (July 6). Pre CK PSA was 14.2 placing me in the mid level risk category. (Diagnosed March, 2011, 2/12 cores @ 10%, Gleason…
