My husband, age 50, was diagnosed with PC on Friday the 5th. It was caught very early, is contained in the prostate, with cancer cells found in only one (1 of 12)area biopsied, with questionable cells in the area just above that. The Gleason Score is a 3 +3 = 6. We are in the Atlanta, GA area and are currently seeing a…

Cyberknife?
Hello all, Met with a Radiation Oncologist (Dr. James Gray) concerning my PC treatment last week in Nashville, TN to discuss Brachytherapy. We had a very good, informative meeting. Almost in passing he mentioned that he could offer Cyberknife treatment as well. With limited long term data available on the effectiveness of…

Halftime
I just completed the first half of my treatment (IMRT + Brachytherapy). 25 IMRT sessions was a breeze. Even dropping trousers 25 times in front of strangers seems normal now. The only side effects are a slight reddening of the skin at the top of my legs - which will go away, and a weaker urine stream. I noticed that my…

HORMON THERAPY DURATION

His PSA every 3 mos has been .01 very very happy about that. He goes to the gym…

Urge to pee after DaVinci
It's been almost eight months since my DaVinci surgery and all of my functions are nearly back to normal with one lingering problem that does not seem to get better. Prior to surgery, I usually had to get up several times during the night to pee. We assumed this was due to my enlarged prostate but now that it is gone, why…

New to the group
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer two weeks ago and I quickly realized that prostate cancer is under rated and more of an issue than most people think. Until my diagnosis and subsequent research, I viewed prostate cancer as a minor bump in the life of a man. It is slow growing, often you don’t even treat it and when you…

First PSA After IMRT
I finished IMRT on April 1. I had lab work that we scheduled before my recurrence and IMRT treatments. Lab work order contained a PSA among other tests. I have been told that the figure will be (even more) unreliable for a year or more as it will bounce around after radiation. That being said, the PSA came back at 0.04. If…

How to help - suggestions needed :)
My dad was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and I want to do my best to support him; as I understand it, the cancer is caught relatively early (only 2 of the 13 biopsys contained cancerous cells). I live far away and he swears he does not want me to visit for the surgery, so I need suggestions about perhaps…

The zero club
Had my 20 month post-op PSA test. Still in the zero club. ED issues have subsided as well. To those about to have surgery or recently post-op - give it a year for things to get to the new normal. I still use a pad on nights that I will be out at the bar but other than that usually dry.

My 61 year old husband was recently diagnosed through biopsy after a physical exam demonstrated a palpable bump on his prostate and an elevating PSA. 53 years of age. PSA 9.2 Gleason 3+4. 60% of 12 cores positive in biopsy. DRI can feel lumps on left side of prostate. All this diagnosed in April 2011. I was first convinced I would have DaVinci. Sling effectivness
I had my prostate removed 8 years ago and am cancer free but am still leaking enough to use 1 to 2 pads/day. Scar Tissue
My husband had prostate cancer about 12 years ago. Shortly after his treatment, he was unable to urinate. His urologist did a procedure which moved some scar tissue and he was able to urinate fine until about two years ago. It happened again, and his doctor tried again to move the scar tissue. This time it didn't work so…

Additional Cause for Concern?
I was reading an old thread regarding PSA testing here -- "Another View On PSA Testing" -- which reminded me that certain drugs can affect PSA test results. So, I did a simple Google search for two of the drugs that I take daily (and their possible effects on PSA) -- aspirin and a statin to prevent heart disease and lower…
