mucus and phlegm
Could you guys tell me what you did for mucus. My mother is full of phlegm and mucus from her radiation and re-irradiation of sinuses. I used the suction thingy today for the first time and got some thick chunks out her mouth, some of it stuck to the roof of her moth. She's having a hard time spitting it out ( weak) and it…

Sad News
Hi all: Just thought I'd let you know that Eddie (the husband of my brother's caregiver I told y'all about) passed away last Wed. morning. I am so glad I went to see them last Monday. He had stage 3 pancreatic cancer with mets to liver and probably had spread rather quickly. At least he is now cancer free and no longer…

Appetite enhancers
Popping in from the CRC board, figuring there is more focus on just plain eating over here. I have been in the hospital for almost a month, unable to sit up, let alone walk. During this time my appetite has been ****, so I have been getting by on protein shakes. We tried marinol, which got me high but not hungry, and there…

THIRD Recurrence in 3 years

He is still in chemo so we are hesitant to remove it since there are days he doesn't have such a great appetitie. It gives us comport to know…

Docs and the Truth
Saw something on tv today, may have been the Today Show. they were discussing docs who don't tell you the truth and whether or not that is a good or bad thing. I am curious to hear what your docs told you when you were diagnosed. I was stage 4 and my cancer was found by my ENT who is local. I remember he stuck his hand…

My little farewell
Had my checkup again today. All good two years out. In the beginning I didn't think I would be on here saying that. Really makes me realise you just have to live. Simple. Yes I know we have side effects. Just channel that to believing that's how it's always been. Reason why I say that is cause the doc said how's your…

Bad news yesterday
Well the doctors came into my room to talk to my wife and me after the big tumor board meeting, to tell me that the cancer is inoperable and no radiation could be done, the tumor is growing around my carotid artery and could at any time collapse it or cut into it and basically kill me instantly. How do you take that…

33 year survivor is my cheerleader!
Hi, per comments on a previous thread I thought I'd share this. This survivor had the same cancer as I, SCC primary on the tongue. Hers was first noticed with a lump near her clavicle. She was in surgery the next day. They took 33 lymph nodes, and 18 were positive. They gave her a 1 yr survival rate! She had 3 preschool…

Hey all. I'm glad I managed to stumble my way onto the CSN boards and I have learned alot from reading many posts. My question is to those of you who have been diagnosed with cancer involving the submandibular gland. Can you give me a timeline from when you first noticed the gland was enlarged to what led you or your…

PET scan results show cancer
so the results came back and mom will have another neck dissection like the doctor predicted, the enlarged lymph node on the right side shows cancer. He believes that it comes from the small second primary cancer on the right sidethat she originally had removed back in nov of 2010 together with the tonsil from left side.…

Skiffin16 - NWasen ~ It's A Small World After All...
A bit of interesting destiny.... I added Nancy Wasen (nwasen) on FaceBook earlier today. The first thing I saw on her wall was that she just friended Zack, my nephew. I was WTH, what did I do that my family is showing up on her friends list...thinking some how I was looking at my friends, but they were showing up on her…

Questions
Hello everyone. I am fairly new here. Have been reading a lot on the site. Truthfully, I did come here with my second diagnosis but was too freaked out at the time, I did better with the less I knew. There was actually question whether I was treatable at one point. So I am doing things differently than some I see here. I…

Hi all, and please forgive me for posting again but I'm extremely scared and can't quit thinking about this stuff again. I was told that…
