It's been a while since i've been here! Mom and I had a conversation on the journey we've been on and i thought it was only appropriate to thank everyone here for all your help and to know that you will NEVER be forgotten.
For those who are new, my mother ended rads for tonsil cancer in july and she is doing wonderful! She's practically back to her usual self with only some minor side effects. Her taste is 100% but she has come along way with that. She cannot eat really dry things but her new diet of salads and veggies has been much better than her old one of bagels and pasta!
Her scans and exams have all been clean! We go back again in april.
For those of you starting out on this difficult road, i hope to share that you will get through it and there is light at the end of the tunnel. When we first recieved this diagnosis, i really thought at times that we would never get through it... and everyone here helped me through some really tough times and helped me and my mother get through this

Congrats BPell....and Mom
So glad that you're both doing well...
Hopefully you'll stick around a little helping others as well. But if not, that's a good thing as well.
This ordeal is like a brother/sister hood, not unlike the bond I have with fellow Marines or military.
It's something that you just can't fully appreciate or understand if you haven't actually gone through and endured it.
You as a care giver are very much a part of it as a survivor...even more so at times.
Survivors just do what we have to do to survive. Care givers allow us to do that and run intereference for everything else in life which is still moving forward.
Best,
John -
