No Diagnosis - But Surgery?
I am so glad I found this forum. Here is my story so far... On 28th I notice a large dome-shaped lump in the back of my mouth. Maybe the size of the tip of your thumb. It's basically the same color as the rest of mouth. So on May 1st I visited the ENT. He looked in my mouth, felt my lump and ordered a CT scan - which I did…

It's been a while
My husband, Andy, is still fighting the beast. He was in a clinical trial that worked for six cycles but then the response ended. He had a chemo vacation and is now on a new chemo regimen for six weeks. Then, we'll see if there's response. If not, on to the next game plan. More tools in the toolbox! Meanwhile I will…

Tap Out
I have not posted in a while due to a lot of reasons. Needless to say, I have been battling 'the beast' tooth and nail. Well, today, I officially 'tapped out'. I am no longer treating the cancer and I am going to try and enjoy as much as I can. No, I didn't just quit. I fought long and hard, but the Doc's just found about…

An Introduction I Wish I Didn't Have To Make :o)
Hi guys. I recently went to the ENT about a gland on the right side of my neck that did not respond to antibiotics. Ended up having a diagnostic tonsillectomy last Wednesday. I won the prize... squamous cell carcinoma. It's kind of generic for now but I won't know more until my PET scan this week. The CT scan indicated…

Sorry for another question....
I've had 14 Rad treatments as of today. My teeth are very sore. It reminds me of when I had braces and got them tightened. Is this normal? Your feeding tube come out?
Just a piece of advice for anyone who has his/her tube come out, stick it back in quickly and tape it in. Thursday it happened to me for the first time. For some reason, the balloon deflated. I got out of the shower, dried off and everything was fine. I sat down shirtless to change my trach tie since it was wet. I went to…

So there I was, ending week 5 and going into week 6. My throat was hurting a little bit more, but it was still manageable. I also started feeling hot and flushed around the radiation area, as my skin started to react. But all in all, I was still doing well. Then yesterday, I got hit by a truck. I was in bed all day,…
