colorectal tumors on the liver..need advice
Seeking advice for my mother. Last year she was diagnosed with colon cancer with metasis (excuse spelling) on the liver. Doctors didn't think she would survive even with chemo but she is still here. She did 12 rounds of FOLFOX chemo and she had a clear PET scan in October but her last scan here last week shows that the…

Need your comments!
I'm doing quite well no effects after 1st round. Tomorrow 2nd round but platelets are starting to worry me.The question is how long do they use to stop chemo in order to recover your platelets , just one week is enough?. For the moment I'm ok still in the 95.000 but dr. say if after 2nd round still dropping he would have…

Here I go again
Came home this evening and started having the out of my head kind of abdominal pain again. I do NOT want to go to the hospital. Bill called the nurse line, and they advised me to go to the ER. I'm trying not to, but we'll see...The pain has lately been all over the abdomen instead of right where the resection took place.…

It's a special day!
Just wanted to share that this is Bill's and my 35th wedding anniversary! We've been very happy together, and we count the last 11 years as bonus years, since he had the sudden cardiac arrest in 2000 and is a true miracle. And I had my cancer in 2007, so we are just delighted we're both here to smile at each other. Dinner…

5-Year Stage 1 Survivor
Woo hoo! Five years ago today was my resection surgery for Stage 1 colon cancer. No sign of cancer since the surgery. I know that the 5-year survival rate is well over 90% for Stage 1, but for quite a while I kept thinking, "What's to say I won't be in the less than 10% that don't survive for 5 years?" Well, I wasn't. God…

Hi Everyone. My name is Bev. I am 50, being born at the tail-end of 1960... I am definately nerdy. So if you can't get past that, please don't go on reading any further! Good evening All, Update..What a long and exhausting day, hubby was in surgery for 6 1/2 hours today, they did perform a Left Trisegmentectomy on his Liver and also removed some of his diaphgram , as the tumor did invade that area also. Update on Crow71 trial
Hi friends. We are back home today. The medi-565 trial was a no go as his GGT (a liver enzyme) came in too high for the trial. He completed screening for AT-406, also at Duke, and I will let him tell you more about that later. Looks like he will have no problem qualifying for the AT-406. Thanks for all your well wishes.

If you could just reply with a ...Happy Holidays...too busy to write...taking a break...whatever,…

Feeling very nervous, I hate the wait. :-(
You know I come to my online family when I'm down and need a good kick up the backside. Had my scan yesterday, firstly I had my hospital gown on wrong. Then it took then 10 minutes to find a vein for the dye, a doctor came in and did it the first time. Had my scan waited outside for 10 minutes, they wanted me to wait so I…

Update on George:
Had the monthly visit with the oncologist yesterday. Things are looking up. The Camposar (CPT-11) and Avastin seem to be doing their job. George's CEA spiked last November to just under 200. After PET, CT, liver biopsies we knew the cancer was marching forward at a pretty good clip and the maintenance chemo was no longer…

Silly people want to look inside my empty head now!
So saw the onc today and was going over my side effects that were still bothering me after stopping FOLFOX 6 weeks ago. I can…

Newly diagnosed - WTF!
I'm newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer stage IV. I'm 46 years old. I have one met on my liver. I am definitely scared. I have started to read "What Helped Me Get Through" by Julie Silver. Can anyone recommend other resources to help transition my fear to courage, hope, and peace? I'm getting a PET scan on Tuesday for…

I lost 10 lbs in one week. Water weight I'm sure. I get to go back again on Thursday to try again for treatment. Not loving this at all.…

5 years NED for this stage IV survivor............cancer free/cured?
I recently had my semi-annual testing and everything looked great. My oncologist was pretty animated (very rare for him) with trying to figure out what and when to test with me going forward since I am in non-surgical remission. It seemed to freak him out that he can't "explain" my NEDness which strikes me as strange. You…

Hoping for good news
Good morning everyone I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm headed off to the oncologist this afternoon to talk about my CEA results from last week as he was on vacation last week. This was my first test since being declared NED six weeks ago so needless to say I'm very nervous.

Farewell Friends!
My friends! My liver has failed and there are no other options available for me. I was sent home today on hospice care and they will monitor me at home until my last few days. I believe I will get to fully enjoy this weekend and perhaps some of next week. Soon after the start of next week rising ammonia levels in my body…

Erbitux and Camptosar
My onc wants to start me on Erbitux/Camposar regiment as the tumor markers are jumping up now after 3.5 years of a camposar, avasin, leuc, 5fu (46 hour pump infusion). I know about the potential rashes, eyelashes growing. What about hair loss? She said the camposar will be given in a larger dose 1x per month as opposed to…
