Cancer Markers
Hi! I was at my naturopath the other day... and he said the oncologist should be tracking cancer markers. This is the first time, I had heard this. My oncologist draws blood before my biweekly FOLFOX treatment... and not once told me about these markers. I plan to ask the oncologist at my next treatment... but could anyone…

Chadwick Boseman
is it normal that when I read the article saying he died from a 4 year battle with colon cancer, i counted out how long it has been since my diagnosis. It is all so arbitrary. He was stage 3, but it progressed to 4. Make you wonder how that happens even when you are fighting it. I was thinking earlier today how the…

4th chemo, elevated liver marker
Hello I was not so active the last days. At one moment it was just too much. So many worries, so many fears. The German angst you could say. My dad is running through his 4 chemo. The last 10 days he was really good. We did an electrotherapy and added nuts to his diet. The chemo hit soon really hard but the recovery was…

severe heartburn reaction
I was diagnosed last year this time with stage 4 colon cancer. Finished treatment with Oxilaplatin, Avastin and 5 FU plus 46 hour pump of 5 FU. in January and started on a maintenance of Avastin, Leucavorin and a bolus of 5 FU. My marker numbers were at 9 in June and started to rise. After a PET scan last week I started on…

Hipec
I underwent Hipec surgery 8 weeks ago. My colon cancer had spread into my abdominal cavity! They were giving me either 6 months to two years to live. Then I went for a second opinion at another hospital. So thankful I did, they got all the cancer they could see. I was referred to an oncologlist that will target my tumors!…

Wish me luck
Hello, I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow and scans next week. I'm stage 4 and my last scans were five months ago. I am now three years and seven months NED. My anxiety always begins about a month before my scans, and I've often wonder if counseling would be helpful but I have never looked into it. I'm sure we all suffer…

Not Passing Me By
Thanks for the thread of concern TruBrit! Maybe we should discuss my UK connections someday. Thanks to all who expressed concerns for my well-being. Seemed like the world passed me by while I was in. TL;DR version * the surgeon was happy with the results of the resection. He cut out the big ones and burned the wee ones. *…

Dreaded ostomy
And so the dreaded ostomy is in. I'll have to live with it for 3-6 months or more, but supposedly can resume full activity. I expect to be here at the lovely Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center hospital for another couple of weeks for now. Mood is improving, and I expect to really improve when I'm allowed to eat. This…

Immodium long term
I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer 22 years ago this month. I was extremely blessed in that I caught it very early. Treatment consisted of 2 surgeries, no chemo or radiation. Nevertheless, it has lifelong consequences which are getting worse with age. I have taken Imodium on a semi-regular basis for all these years and…

Hi Everyone, First I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. My liver ablation on 8-20 went very well. It started around 8 am and I was out of there by 11:30. Onc gave me a clearer picture of the situation, though clear as mud now as opposed to, I dunno, clear as poop? They're only confident about 2 mets, the rest wait and see for the PET scan Tumor board is split over the best course of action. FOLFIRI + avastin and surgery or just surgery. The chemo group says it is more…
