breast expanders
My surgery was a month ago today. I had my first fill on Nov.13th only 20 cc each. Are they supposed to feel mpy? hard and look lumpy? Also wondering if anyone wore the compresson bra with pads in it after the first fill? I don't see the plastic surgeon for another week. Have been careful not to lift anything over 10 lbs.…

If you are stage 1, ER/PR+, HER- and need chemo, can you tell me the reason?
I will see my medical oncologist for the first time in about 2 weeks. My BS has prepared us for the possibility that chemo will be suggested. My diagnosis is IDC, stage 1, grade 3 and the tumor was a little over 1 cm. My 7 nodes removed were clean, however my margins weren't clear and I had a re-excision last week, making…

Don't Want to take Femara
I really don't want to take Femara. Am afraid to tell the Doctor because I know she will not approve. I don't believe I will have a quality of life on it. Plus, I don't see how I will keep my job on it. People act like having osteo is a simple thing - just a few aches and pains - but both my parents suffered terribly from…

Final Dx: Breast Mets to Pancreas
It is strange to be thrilled by this diagnosis, but the mood at my onc's office today was almost celebratory. I have to pass my Muga first, but then I start on kadcyla and my onc thinks I will do well. No more surgeries, I am healing and home, and there is a treatment for me. I am seriously ready to kick some cancer…

deep saddness after treatment has been over.
Was anyone else surprised by the level of saddness and grief after breast cancer treatment? It came out of nowhere and hit me like a brick wall. I was not prepared for this.

heating pad?
About a month ago, my breast surgeon told me to use a heating pad on my nerve sensations/pain on the side where my cancer was more widespread, and more lymph nodes were removed. Under my right arm is always swollen. My bilateral mastectomy was 6 years ago, and this recently started about a month ago. During the night, I…

Traumatic Brain Injury and Metastatic Disease
My Sister was "cancer" free from breast cancer four months ago. She was in a very bad car accident with traumatic brain injury, multiple broken bones, including neck, lumbar and arm, ribs and orbital bone. During the X-rays they found metastatic disease in her lung, liver and on both adrenal glands. They say they cannot do…

Met W/ Local Oncologist Today - MD Anderson Monday
Thought this appt. was cancelled ( I did call them) when MD Anderson put me on their schedule. Surprised to get a call "reminding me" of the appt! So I met with the local recommended oncologist. He doesn't know me from Adam's house cat so I mainly listened for most of the session. His opinion - must do chemo - Taxol…

Oncotyping score 22
Had lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy 10/15. 2.1 centimeter ilc with clear margins and all 4 nodes negative. Oncotyping score is 22. I fall in the gray area. Cannot decide on chemo. Anyone have any comments? I need a decision by Wednesday.

First Radiation Reaction?
Hello everyone! I would just like to know if ANYONE has had a reaction to either Aquaphor or their first radiation treatment. I had my first treatment yesterday, and did just fine during the treatment. When I got home about 2 hours later, I slathered on Aquaphor, the recommended lotion. Within 20 minutes, I began to feel…

Scan results!
Good news first, Liver and lungs clear. Tumors are not putting pressure on spinal column.Bone scan shows the tumors that are stable are the T-spine which was radiated last year, along with the tight hip and right thigh, and a few in the ribs. The c-spine, left ribs, left hip, right knee, lumbar spine, tail bone, pelvic…

CT and bone scans / test results
Question for those with bone mets. I have had clear scans and x-rays for the last 3 years and was feeling like it now time to move on. I had surgery to correct a double mastectomy that left me with a ugly mess. The pre op xray showed 'patchy atelectasis'. I wasn't too worried after a google search said it could possibly be…

I had my last radiation treatment today and rang the bell. I'm Done! Skin is holding up pretty well, just a little pink. Breast hurts but not bad enough to even need ibuprofen. Check out Expressions Gallery for photo with bell.
