lost sense of smell

Hi there, I did chemo 26months ago and my sense of smell went crazy. I couldn't even wash my clothes with detergent. Too strong. Even now I can't stand the smell of a lot of things. It does seem to be getting better. My father-in-law did major chemo 6 yrs ago and he lost his sense of taste and his sense of smell for a long time, it has now returned but still not like it was. Hope this helps.0

Hi, had chemo and lost my sense of smell, a lot of things smelled different , my tastebuds were gone too. Had a metallic taste in my mouth for a long time during and after chemo, I put salt on and in everything, ate hot and spicy food, now I am fine and all is back to almost normal. Finished chemo in October 2002. Still certain smells get to me. Hope this helps. Emmi0

lost sense of smell
I had chemo 2/2012 thru 5/2012. I have completely lost my sense of smell since...it is now 12/2014. I cannot smell anything...burning or cooking food in the kitchen, perfumes...anything. frustrating to no end, and I am wondering if it will ever come back...but at the same time, I am smelling things no one else senses...foods have a specific smell that totally throws me off "my feed".
