Questioning The DNA Theory As The Origin Of Cancer
There appears to be two distinct processes from which a cell can be reproduced. The first method is by way of the cell replicating itself as outlined within that cells DNA. The second method is a slightly altered procedure whereby the bodys own immune system is sent to rapidly reproducing the surrounding tissues in an…

Life after BC is beautiful! Hang in there!
Hi everyone! I used to be a regular here, and got busy doing other things. My 5-year anniversary is coming up soon and I wanted to share with those of you still in treatment how beautiful life is after you are done. When I was in the middle of chemo treatments, at times I wondered if my life would ever get back to normal.…

Update on my mother
I posted this past week before my mother underwent a needle biopsy for a lump. She did find out that it was cancer, fortunately slow growing (grade 1) and small (1 cm). She's seeing a surgeon on Monday. Even though it's unlikely that it would be recommended at this stage, she says she will refuse any chemo. I think we're a…

HELLO!
OK ladies, it has started, I know the hair and nails issues are important, but for those of you who take ANY dietary supplements you should know without supplements hair and nails don't grow. Meaning: I think a lot of us are here today not because of chemo and radiation, but because of chemo, radiation AND dietary…

No Right to Grieve
My heart is breaking this morning and I can find no solace. There are those in my family (husband and mother-in-law) that feel I do not have the right to grieve for my father. My "dear" 86 yo mother-in-law stated that because I had not seen nor corresponded with my father in so long that "it should not matter then". What…

Biopsy Question
I was diagnosed with BC in Nov. 2001, and went through lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. All is still well for me thankfully, but now my mother has a lump in her breast. She's having a needle biopsy tomorrow, and since I didn't have this done I'm wondering how it works. Do you get results of the pathology right away, or do…

Post Mastectomy
After four years I finally found a company that treats you with respect and friendship when trying to find a comfortable prothesis and bra. I had stopped wearing the prothesis because where I originally went they were just interested in sending me out the door with something. It was so very heavy I was unable to wear it…

Beat's me why...
Maybe someone can help me out here, cause I sure don't understand... one of the "12 dangerous dietary supplements" to be taken off the market by the FDA is 'skullcap' (Huang Qin). Didn't mean much to me because I'm not familiar with it, don't take it, but then I go to the NCCAM website. A division of the NIH - National…

Other people's perception
Does anyone else have the problem with friends (and others) having a perception of you that is not correct? I have gotten to the point where I don't like letting others know any "new" developments because they think (and almost expect ) the worst. Last spring I found out that the BC had spread to my bones but we only found…

Panicked about going back to work
I just received a letter from my disability insurer. They have assigned a nurse consultant to my case to 'help' me get back to work right away. I am totally panicked! Osteoporosis update
Hi everyone. Saw one of my oncologists last week and his suggestion regarding my bone density test results (-3 for spine L1 region) was calcium supplements and exercises. I wasn't too pleased since I had read that supplements are a good way to prevent osteoporosis, not to treat it. Anyway, I ran it by a few of my favorite…

Thank you...
to all who replied regarding dietary supplements. Whether you agree or not my main concern is patient awareness at this time. Granted the 12 supplements they are pulling may be dangerous and that's great that they are looking out for the public. My concern is, as patients, we apparently think we know certain substances…
