DIEP pre-ops and surgery
So, in December I'm going in for a DIEP. I had a right mastectomy in June, and they're going to do the left side with a tummy-tuck to rebuild the right side. (They'll save the skin from the left for reconstructing it.) Pre-ops are today with my surgeon, plastic surgeon and hospital, plus a diagnostic mammogram (whatever…

Just a fun little treat I wanted to share, hope you try it and enjoy it.
You know sometimes you just want a nice warm fudgy piece of chocolate cake but you don't feel like the hassle of getting out the mixer and having all the mess. Well here is a simple little recipe that will meet that need. I hope you try it and enjoy it, I had mine earlier today. CHOCOLATE CAKE FOR ONE 1 Coffee Mug 4…

I just want to whine.
I just want to whine and get pissed off. When I'm around people I feel like I have to put on a happy face so I haven't been going around anyone. Mom says, "It looks like your hurt." I say, "Its because it does hurt." It is like I'm supposed to pretend everything is fine. It is a very lonely feeling. I sleep a lot. I hope…

Reconstruction
Diagnosed 11/3. Will have surgery 12/14. Will remove right breast that has the cancer and it was recommended to do the left also because I want reconstruction. Sounds like a long and arduous process. Do they look real?

the roof of my mouth
You know those bumpy things you have in the roof of your mouth? Well, all of a sudden a couple of them are pulled back in the wrong direction. I can put them back down but every time I eat or drink I have to lay them back down where they go. I could probably rip one out if I wanted to, but I DO NOT want to. Is this from…

The Oak Tree
I wanted to re-post this for some of the newbies (seems like so many) sigh, I know I loved this poem when I received it in a card while going through treatment. Hugs, Wanda The Oak Tree by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr. A mighty wind blew night and day. It stole the Oak Tree's leaves away. Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark…

Xeloda approval delayed by BC/BS
I found out last week that my breast cancer (in remission for 39 months) has metastasized to my bones (severe backaches last month led me to bone scans which showed my bones lit up like a Christmas tree). My onc prescribed radiation for the most painful pelvic area and Xgeva to help "cement" my bones and an oral chemo…

Tamoxifen - no side effects then not working?
I was looking on whatnext and someone posted that if I don't have any side effects from tamoxifen, then it isn't working and I need to get tested!! According to them, this comes from the manufacturer. My oncologist said "great" when I told her I didn't notice any side effects, see you in 3 months. I did as much research as…

1st chemo today
Hi all, Well I did it! I started chemo. Swore I never would and still wish I hadn't, but necessary evil I guess. As expected on day one, I feel pretty good. I "arm wrestled" my doc about the steroids. She only gave me 10 mgs the day of! YAY! That's an answer to prayer by the way from across the country. I know what those…

Hitchin' a Ride... (and Vit D question)
I had so much fun on the last bus ride, may I ask for another on Thursday? Yep, it's been six months already. I finally got off the sugar high from the last ride. Can anyone bring a crock pot of soup? I'm in the mood for potato soup in a bread bowl. Guess that would be tricky on a bus. Okay, pizza then? ha ha. I keep…

Different Chemo
Hi Everybody, As some of you know, I had to go off cytoxon/taxotere because I kept getting pneumonia. My doc put me on hormone therapy - Anastrazole. It may be shrinking the tumor but, if it is, it's really slow. So last week I asked him to put me on another chemo and I would take steroids as soon as I felt any serious…
