what if chemo and radiation doesn't get it all?
Some history. My mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988 at the age of 47. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. She was diagnosed the second time in 2004 (age 63). It was not a recurrence but a "new" cancer in the same breast as before. Treatment was a mastectomy only. It was caught early. Fast forward…

Results from Mammo
Thank you all for going with me today. Turns out that I really needed some chocolate and strawberries, and everything else you brought with you. Don't worry about crowd control....I can handle those nurses and techs myself. To make a long story short, I am NED, but not without an ordeal. I went in as usual, they took…

New here with HER2+ questions
I was dx. with stage 3, grade 3 clear cell ovarian in July 2010. I have been in a clinical trial, so this whole year I've been on Avastin maintenance every 3 weeks. My chemo was IV/IP taxol and cisplatin along with the Avastin. I was dx. with breast cancer in my right breast on November 16th. The initial path report said…

Chen...
I just read your response to the geirson or what ever it's called, diet thing....I laughed so hard at parts of your response! My last words on that subject, to parrot part of what you said...I would be pissed if I had gone through all of this and now for a second ride at the rodeo, only to find out, if only I had done…

Which is best? CT or Pet SCan?
I was wondering if anyone had a story about which is better or if one scan presented something different than the other. I read online that a Pet is better than the CT.

Herceptin: Did your Ejection Fraction level ever drop so low you had to stop? Please Help.
I have been getting Herceptin treatments since May 2011. I am half way through. I was being monitored with muga scans every 3-4 months. My ejection fraction started at 63 and continued to go down. I had a muga scan yesterday and it has dropped to 51. My oncologist has scheduled for me to see him on Tuesday to discuss what…

CT SCAN results
Hello Again ... My onco doc wanted to do a CT Scan because of lab results she got. So I went this past Wednesday and got a call from my doc with this news >>>> We found spots on your lungs. She said she can't do a biopsy because the spots are too small. Good news I guess. She said to come back for another CT Scan in 3…

"The Pink Bus" History, sort of...
The “Pink Bus” is used by many online breast cancer support groups to help those who need buoying up in a virtual sense on their journey. I “google” the words “breast cancer “pink bus” and could not find any history. There were many busses painted pink for awareness. There are many groups I am certain that will claim the…

I received a beautiful engraved angel from Ayse!
It came on a day when I was not feeling too good and it just made my heart smile. Thank you Ayse! Hopefully, my secret sister will receive hers today! I love this! Each year, my 4 sisters and I do the same, but it isn't secret, we rotate each year. How Ironic that I am doing this now with my 'Pink Sisters" as well. We…

Xanax
Was taking Xanax, anti-anxiety, through Chemo and Radiation. Helped me with hot flashes, headaches and night sweats, sleeplessness as well as the anxiety. Tried to use only half of one and yikes, had terrible night sweats and am experiencing anxiety again. Has anyone had experience with Xanax? Are there withdrawal symptoms…

Preventing Mouth Sores
Chemo can give mouth sores and my oncologist told me not to brush with my regular toothpaste. So my husband went to our local pharmacy and bought me Arm and Hammer Advanced White Baking Soda & Peroxide toothpaste. I never got one mouth sore. I can't guarantee it will work for you, but it did the trick for me.

Cysts
Asking for thoughts/experiences I can pass on to Son's Lady. I have no experience with cysts - my IBC just appeared one day. About 5 - 6 weeks ago she had pain and found a lump. She saw a Dr and was given antibiotics. 2 weeks later it had shrunk some but still there and still painful. Dr refused a mammo as said she's to…

Happy Neck News
I saw my trusted neurosurgeon yesterday. He is the one who worked a miracle on my lower back when my facet joints disintegrated and caused my vertebrae to slip out. This caused severe nerve pain. I went from being able to walk only short bursts without severe pain to walking as much as I want. That is a true medical…

Please make sure you are in control of your body!
I started having Mammograms and yearly check-ups when I was forty, just like I was suppose to. When I discovered my tumor it was already over 2cm. ( I was 50 yrs old) I didn’t really think it could be anything because I always did what I was suppose to right? I was scheduled for a monogram on the day I discovered the…

OT bra strap slippage :-)
I don't want this to sound like an advertisement ... but ... since my lumpectomy my bra strap on one side was always sliding down and I'd have to do the reach inside my top to keep pulling it up. A friend I know said she used tape to keep her straps up ... but then another friend showed me what she uses. It's the greatest…
