Generating Ideas for bad memory
Ok here is the issue. Whodathunkit. After getting breast cancer I managed to miss a breast exam and went two months without a self exam. I blame it partially on bad memory and partially on menopause. Before menopause I would remember about 10 times out of 12 to do my monthly self exam. It was easy to remember to do it a…

Please fill in your profiles
We have so many newbies and so few are filling in anything about themselves. It does help when making replies to know something about who is being replied to. Such as type (IBC/ IDC/ILC/DCIS/LCIS/etc) stage, and TX. It helps with replies that deal with you. The diffe4rent types have diffeent issues.

Bad Weather delaying Ornaments Arriving?
I have to wonder??? I mailed my ornament out to my pink sister on Nov. 30th and have not seen a post that she has received it yet. I really wonder if it is due to the bad weather we are having in "some areas" of our country? Since I mailed it at the UPS store using the postal service, there was no tracking available to…

Some hopeful news about new drug combos for those of us with advanced disease
"Treatment for advanced breast cancer could improve significantly if doctors give women combinations of medications that attack tumors in different ways, two large clinical trials suggest. In one study, researchers found (ER+) patients fared better when a breast cancer drug called an aromatase inhibitor was combined with…

** A Christmas Ha Ha **
Did Santa Give You That Present? On Christmas morning a cop on horseback is sitting at a traffic light, and next to him is a kid on his shiny new bike. The cop says to the kid, "Nice bike you got there. Did Santa bring that to you?" The kid says, "Yeah." The cop says, "Well, next year tell Santa to put a tail-light on that…

lots to consider...
First, the update...as you may remember, my onc recently changed my chemo since the xeloda wasn't working. The onc was recommending taxol. After a tip from our dear friend Phoenix Rising, I did some research and asked my onc about abraxane instead. Both taxol and abraxane are really paclitaxel, but the binding agent is…

I went to my biopsy followup yesterday - alone - and got the news that the microcalcification did not contain any cancer. This morning as my girls got ready for school and work, I showed them the biopsy site and told them everything that had happened since Nov. 8th - when the first mammogram showed "something". We cried…

Areola graft vs. tattoo
Anybody have an areola skin graft done with their nipple reconstruction? My PS had always talked about getting an areola tattoo, but when I was there for my pre-op we decided to do the skin graft....more because I would be done sooner and not have to go back in 2 months for the tattoo (I've moved 4 hours away). I'm…

UPDATE - please help --- Triple Negative bc Questions for a Friend
Hi ladies! Another friend of ours was dx, 34. Her type is triple neg. I would like some feedback about what kind of chemo you got for this type and what the side effects were, and if you have any suggestions as to how to deal with them. I was estrogen + so they gave me AC/T, not sure if they do the same for all bc, or if…

Having a off/bad day
I can not stop crying today, I have been sitting up the Christmas stuff and I just don't have the energy for it. I have to stop and just cry and it's bumming me out. I don't know why I am having such a bad day. The only thing I can figure is I am in need of a blood transfusion and haven't had one in a month. My last three…

what if chemo and radiation doesn't get it all?
Some history. My mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988 at the age of 47. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. She was diagnosed the second time in 2004 (age 63). It was not a recurrence but a "new" cancer in the same breast as before. Treatment was a mastectomy only. It was caught early. Fast forward…

Results from Mammo
Thank you all for going with me today. Turns out that I really needed some chocolate and strawberries, and everything else you brought with you. Don't worry about crowd control....I can handle those nurses and techs myself. To make a long story short, I am NED, but not without an ordeal. I went in as usual, they took…

New here with HER2+ questions
I was dx. with stage 3, grade 3 clear cell ovarian in July 2010. I have been in a clinical trial, so this whole year I've been on Avastin maintenance every 3 weeks. My chemo was IV/IP taxol and cisplatin along with the Avastin. I was dx. with breast cancer in my right breast on November 16th. The initial path report said…

Chen...
I just read your response to the geirson or what ever it's called, diet thing....I laughed so hard at parts of your response! My last words on that subject, to parrot part of what you said...I would be pissed if I had gone through all of this and now for a second ride at the rodeo, only to find out, if only I had done…

Which is best? CT or Pet SCan?
I was wondering if anyone had a story about which is better or if one scan presented something different than the other. I read online that a Pet is better than the CT.

Herceptin: Did your Ejection Fraction level ever drop so low you had to stop? Please Help.
I have been getting Herceptin treatments since May 2011. I am half way through. I was being monitored with muga scans every 3-4 months. My ejection fraction started at 63 and continued to go down. I had a muga scan yesterday and it has dropped to 51. My oncologist has scheduled for me to see him on Tuesday to discuss what…

CT SCAN results
Hello Again ... My onco doc wanted to do a CT Scan because of lab results she got. So I went this past Wednesday and got a call from my doc with this news >>>> We found spots on your lungs. She said she can't do a biopsy because the spots are too small. Good news I guess. She said to come back for another CT Scan in 3…
