1 year in remission ~ think I'm having symptoms again, please respond!
Hi; in late 2009, I started noticing "changes" ~ namely in bowel habits & feeling extremely tired. No "home remedies" helped; went to local doctors & was misdiagnoised. Four months later, went to a hospital an hour 1/2 away & was diagnoised with anal cancer. I got chemo & radiation & this Feb I've been a year in…

Can somebody translate this please?
I'm a little embarrassed to be asking this, as I used to be a medical transcriptionist. But I mostly worked in a family practice and neurology setting, so I am not up on my CA terminology. From my chart: -- begin quote -- DIAGNOSIS: Anal canal, cytology preparation: - High-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL/AIN…

I also have that occasional mucus drainage that I believe we refer to as "whale snot". Its funny, this is probably…

Post Treatment Diet & Exercise
After 3.5 weeks post treatment I am starting to feel pretty good. My wounds are healed and my only complaint is digestion. I lost 20 pounds and have had a low appetite. I am primarily eating bland no-fiber foods. Now I need more calories to get my energy back, but I'm not sure how to reintroduce "normal" foods. The Doctors…

Getting My Port Out Next Week!
Can't wait! This thing has been bothering me ever since it went in back in November. My doctor said that since I had a good DRE and that I understand that it might have to be put back in if the cancer comes back, I can have it out. Next Friday! Yay! How are all of you doing? I lost 30 pounds during my treatment and from…

So three months after treatments ended I still get diarrhea every once in a while. Lately its been a bit more frequent. Its not the kind like I had during treatment where I had accidents and couldn't make it to the bathroom but it's the kind where my stomach makes all kinds of noises and then I am stuck on the john for 20…

Scared to death to have sex
I'm able to use the medium dilator daily, but still scared to have sex. My husband has been very patient and proud he is medically a large (me not so much). I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready. Have been out of treatment since the end of August. Anyone else have this issue? Is it just in my head?

Surprising numbers
Today I met with my colorectal surgeon for my 3 month exam. During our conversation he held up four fingers and said that in the past two weeks he diagnosed four new cases of anal cancer...all in women. Pretty scary, huh? All are early stage. I remember how I felt when I found out and will be keeping these patients in my…
