Hello and New to Board
Hello, I'm a 37yo female that just completed 36 rad treatments/3 chemo treatments of cisplatin this past week. Still feeling like crap from the radiation and chemo treatments at this point. Lots of mucus and so tired I can't hardly get out of bed. And ears are really ringing bad after chemo.
Was diagnosed in May 2010 with cancer on base of tongue. Had radical left neck dissection where they found 3 lymph nodes positive. Cancer is HPV+.
Does the HPV+ have anything to do with the prognosis of the cancer? I've heard that it does and wondered what everyone else has heard.
Thanks - Michelle0 -

Hi Michelle, and welcome. You're going through one of the rough spots of recovery now, so just hang in there. Glad your treatment is over, and in the coming weeks you will see a definite change for the better. Very generally speaking, HPV caused cancer has a better prognosis than those caused by other factors. Plenty of folks here will be glad to help you out, just start a new thread on the board for everyone to see it.
best, Hal0 -
