52
52 when dx april 23 2010 My grandmother died of ovarian cancer when she was 52. But that was back in 1957 and the Doctors didnt do that kind of surgery back then. I often think about the women way back when, there was not treatment then. My grandmother just had to wait it out and die. I am so happy we live in todays world with all the modern technology.0 -
I was diagnosed June 11,2009
I was diagnosed June 11,2009 just before my 55th birthday. It's almost one-year later and I'm happy to report that I have had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. I finished those treatments on Christmas Eve 2009 (best Christmas present ever). I just want to let all the newly diagnosed know that there is an end to this nightmare. I am now even getting my hair back. I'm looking forward to my dance with NED later this month (fingers crossed) when I have my first mammo since treatment.
As an aside, I am always shocked at the numbers of young ladies that are being diagnosed. We MUST find a cure for this dreaded beast!!!0 -

I was 52 years old. It does seem that a lot of us were diagnosed right around the 50 year old mark. I have noticed that with colon cancer also, even in men. Oh well, it stinks at any age.0 -

49...but that was rectal cancer...
....a PET scan for that found the breast cancer.
I was told "Well, the rectal is much more life threatening (37% survival rate) than the breast, so it's going to have to wait till you survive the other (??????)"
Here and alive and kickin'...NED on both....
GREAT post!

Had a lumpectomy ... then started my chemo on my 65th birthday (MY choice to start on that date to make it a "special" present for myself!).
hugs.

56 here
Mom, her sis, their grandmother were 50.
Not a lot makes me cry anymore, but this entire thread has got me teared up. Yesterday, I found out that another acquaintance has bc. I know 8 women (and that's after just a quick count) with bc. What's goin' on here?!0 -
