Breathing Problems & Sutent
My wife (34 yrs old) was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in June 2010. Had a TT and removed 60ish lymph nodes from neck with 50% being cancerous. During the pre-treatment for RAI they found micro-nodules are throughout her lungs. Were told not to worry because there were a lot of small particles and that a high dose of RAI…

Thyroglobulin level
If your thyroglobulin level is not at zero, doesn't this mean that you still have microscopic cancer cells somewhere in your body? My husband has had 5 re-occurances in the past 13 years, he has never been at zero. Our 16 yr old daughter, also with papillary carcinoma, had TT last June, and I-131 in July 2010. Recently, at…

Can anyone share experience with papillary carcinoma in "hot" nodule
Hi, I am newly diagnosed, and so scared that this cancer has spread through my body. And it seems like it will be FOREVER before I have any answers. One question that I have is because the hot nodule is functioning in some way, it is more likely to have blood flowing through it and thus moving cancer cells? I know that is…

RAI for the 2nd time
Looks like I will be having a 2nd dose based on my bloodwork. My doc said my cancer marker after surgery was 911.3 after the RAI it is now 68.4. Based on that he said I either still have cancerous Thyroid tissue or it has spread. So going hypo again, body scan in mid Feb. and dose after. We found this out on Dec. 22nd and…

Hi, I am a 22 yo female recently diagnosed with metastatic papillary carcinoma. Papillary TC: Unchanged fT4 even after several T4 dose increase
I had a TT in May 2010 and was treated with RAI in the end of July 2010 after about 5 weeks without thyroxine (T4). After I started taking T4 again (125 mcg/day) I had my fT4 measured after 4, 5 and 11 weeks. The results showed fT4 14-14,5 (lab ref area 9-22 pmol/l), fT3 3,4-3,6 (ref 3,5-7,8) and TSH 19-27 (ref 0,2-4). The…

Thyrogen injections vs going hypo
I need help! I'm scheduled to have my second round of RAI treatment in March. My doctor wants me to go off my meds next week. I had my first round in November and only then started on thyroxine. I'm just feeling normal again and am dreading the thought of having to go hypo again. I'm also afraid I won't be able to keep…

Hurthle Cell Thyroid
I have recently been diagnosed with Hurthle Cell thyroid. I have a consultation tomorrow and hope to get some answers to my questions. My doctor told me I could wait to have my surgery until May or after my daughters wedding. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter as I am concerned about waiting that long?

vent & question about specialists
Hi, all. I don't post often, but I've learned a lot from reading this board. Anyway, I need to communicate with people in the same boat as I am in. I had a total thyroidectomy in November 2010, RAI in December 2010, and yesterday my endo called and said that the last biopsy shows that I have 2 cancerous lymph nodes that…

New to posting on the boards and need to vent.
I’ve been a member for awhile but have not posted until recently. I joined right after I was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma in April of 2010. Had a TT May 10, 2010, and radioactive iodine treatment (150) at the end of June. They did find a lymph node with cancer during the surgery. They also found that the original…

Thyroid Cancer and Hashimotos
This board is not where I spend my time, so I apologize if this information is common knowledge here. I just learned that EVERYONE who has thyroid cancer has Hashimoto's. There is a very comprehensive book out there about this condition and how to address the autoimmunity instead of just treating the symptoms with thyroid…

Recent TT and Upcoming RA-131 Treatment
I was diagnosed on 12/28/10 with Papillary Carnicoma by my Endocrinologist via an FNA a week before. The nodule/tumor was 1.57 cm in size. He had some referals to Surgeons but they weren't amoung those "in-network" through my healthcare provider. Researching for a Surgeon was tough, but eventually found one. I had a TT on…

178.3 mCi's of I-131 today
Well, it's done. I took my dose about an hour and a half ago. Of course traffic was heavy getting home and I really had to pee. I think just knowing that I couldn't stop to pee made me want to go even more. The good news is that I can eat anything I want in about forty-six and a half hours (but who's counting). Yeah! Julie

Good Scan
Had my scan today after my RAI. I took up the RAI and the doctor did not see any signs of metastasis. It was very strange looking at the uptake scan. I was shocked at how much my liver absorbed. Seems that it took the majority of the I-131 along with the Thyroid cells. My throat is killing me however and I feel like I've…
