My Active Surveillance update
I had a targeted biopsy last week. The doctor was able to go back, and survey around areas where cancers had been found to determine how extensive the cancer(s) are in those areas. I was concerned about the results of my biopsy, since my PSA rose from 4.0 in Jan, 2013 to 5.4. Let me add that the free PSA rose to 24% So…

Surgeon recommendation
I am close to deciding what do about my prostate cancer. The sergeon I will probably use at the Mayo Clinic Rochester is Dr Igor Frank. I have only heard good things about him. I know he does 6 to 8 Davinci's a week and been there many years. Does anybody have any information about Dr Frank?

My husband is 70, slim and in pretty good health other than 5mg of lisinopril to control HBP. His PSA was 6 before he had a biopsy in late September for the usual symptoms of frequent urination, urgency and poor flow. Of the 12 cores, 9 were positive for Adenocarcinoma. Gleason Score as follows 3 @ 4+4, 5 @ 4+3 and 1@ 3+3,…

Hi Everyone, Actor Kathy Bates has been speaking publicly about the lymphedema she recently acquired in both arms from a double mastectomy after a breast cancer diagnosis. Continuing to Work While Receiving RT
Has anyone experienced serious problems by continuing to work while undergoing radiation therapy? If I have to receive SRT starting in mid-September, will it be possible to still work 5 days a week? SRT normally requires one treatment a day, 5 days a week for about 7 to 9 weeks, I believe. The decision is not final. I am…

AS or RP part 2
Met with Dr Leonard Marks at UCLA today. He was able to alleviate most of my fears regarding my cancer diagnosis. He believes that my 3+3 = 6 gleason is low risk and that even for my age he would recommend AS. He cited a study by a doctor in Detroit that autopsied people who passed away and found that many men young and…

TRT
I thought this an interesting article. I have been on Casodex for two years, which I stopped one month ago. I then started an anabolic steroid which actually reduces T levels. I have been concerned about having very low levels of testosterone and my decision is to take Androl 50 mg. for about three weeks. I am only…

PSA After SRT
I am trying to get a handle on PSA behavior after salvage radiation therapy. Halfway through a 6-week course of radiation therapy my PSA dropped from 0.3 to 0.2. This was encouraging because it seemed to indicate that the radiation was on-target and working. However, two months after completion of SRT, my PSA went up again…

Considering end of AS due to new pathology
Hello all. I've been on AS since 2010 diagnosis. Posted often back then and have given periodic updates since. Original diagnosis was with 1/12 cores positive, 5% of tissue, 3+3 Gleason at age 56.
