Wanting to connect with PCa survivors
Hello. I am wanting to connect with prostate cancer survivors. I had HIFU 8 months ago. I'm in no support group and thought this site might meet that need. I was hoping there would be a lively chat room but seems no one is there. I'd like to discuss life post prostate cancer. Men who had HIFU would have more in common with…

How long on adjuvant ADT?
I was diagnosed Oct 18, 2013 with PCa stage T1c. My PSA was 3.2, low but slowly rising over the past 5 years. DRE showed an enlarged but otherwise normal prostate. The ultrasound didn't reveal anything but my urologist recommended a biopsy for peace of mind. We were both surprised when 3 of 12 cores were positive, Gleason…

Newly Diagnosed
I am a 50 year old and my urologist has just told me that I have prostate cancer. I started having the typical symptoms about 4 months ago: frequent need to urinate, difficult to start or maintain urine flow, and pain when urinating and immediately after. My PSA was 18, my DRE showed enlargement of the prostate. Biopsy…

Any alternatives to hormonal therapy to reduce size of prostate
About a year and a half ago I consulted with a Urologist about seed implants. He said that my prostate was too large and that I would need to have hormonal therapy to reduce the size. I am now considering seed implant but want to know if there are alternatives to hormonal therapy and the accompanyiing side effects. Jim

Surgery? Or External Radiation Followed by Brachytherapy?
My first post to CSN. Just diagnosed with PSA of 14, I believe. CAT and bone scans reveal no spread of cancer from prostate. I'm an otherwise healthy and fit 64-year-old whose main concerns are 1. ridding myself of cancer and 2. sexual function. With that in mind, does anyone have strong feelings either way about the two…

Castrate Resistant PCa (CRPC)
This was posted over on the HW PCa forum today by Profman and it's pretty interesting: http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=3174673 "The September 4 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine has an article "AR-V7 and Resistance to Enzalutamide and Abiraterone in Prostate Cancer" in which a variant…

Surgery or ? for treatment of recurrent castrate-resistant Pca
Last year, a number of you posting to this forum provided enormously valuable advice as I sorted through treatment possibilities after receiving a diagnosis of locally advanced prostate cancer (in a thread titled "Surgery or Radiation?" http://csn.cancer.org/node/258414). I'm hoping some of you can help me once again sort…

Salvage Radiation Therapy with ADT
Hi everyone, Wondering if anyone has a similar t3b diagnosis. I'm new to the board. I'm age 64, healthy and had no symptoms or family history of PC but took the PSA test anyway. 1/14 - PSA of 7, wich lead to a biopsy report of 3+3=6. Low volume PC in 2 of 12 cores. It was only an MRI that revealed a SVI (right vessel).…

Upward trend in PSA post surgery
I am 58 years old. I had my prostate removed (Da Vinci) on 4//14/14 with a 3/4 Gleason. One of the ten lymph nodes removed was positive. In late June, my PSA was 0.06. In late July, it was 0.07. And, today, 8/28, it was 0.08. Should I be concerned about the upward trend?

Had robotic RP on April 23; came home with Foley catheter. Expected to have it removed after 7 days. Had third cystogram today. Still leaking. Doc says nothing to worry about; however, have not heard of anyone having catheter this long. Would like to hear from others who may have had this experience. Thanks.
