Weird Cistplatin taste side effect
Water. Just plain ole water tastes salty. A nurse told me that she has heard other cistplatin patients say the same thing. Oh well, I'm just drinking flavored water. Don't know what else I can do. The most frustrating part is when I'm out in public, and just want a sip of water. YUCK! I"m going to buy me some fresh lemons…

Nauseous and I haven't even started Chemo yet
Hi Ladies, I'm a little concerned that I haven't even started chemo and I've developed this almost constant nausea. I guess it could be nerves? I'm also wondering if it could be hormonal because I had surgery 4 weeks ago and maybe the nausea is related to surgically induced menopause? Have any of you experienced this? The…

Ovarian vs Appendix Cancer
I've been encountering more and more people who have had cancers found on their ovaries but that were appendiceal in origin (as was mine). I am ever grateful to the pathologist on my case who saw during surgery that the tumor removed from my ovary was a metastatic tumor from my (healthy looking) appendix. Because it was…

Getting through those nights
Hi Loves... I know I've mentioned my method for getting through those long nights before, but since we have so many new faces on board, I thought I'd throw it out again. I load up my MP3 player with audiobooks and it's my constant companion when I trying to get to sleep or when I wake up in middle of the night. You can't…

Thanks for not forgetting me!
Dear Friends…..I am so sorry I let you all think I had just fallen off the face of the Earth. I don't mean to go all Jason Bourne on you guys, but I know from experience that hospitals and large oncology practices pay people to monitor forums like this one – and this one in particular – and therefore, I can’t be totally…

I was diagnosed 3 months ago with stage 3 OVCA. A month later I was tested and confirmed BRCA1 positive. My mom is a breast cancer survivor (10 years NED). We immediately got my mom and my daughter tested for BRCA1 / BRCA2. I was scared and guilt-ridden for a month, which was making my chemo experience not all it was…

Onc appointment update
Hello Dear Ladies I have positive and not so positive news. Yesterday I had a visit with my onc to discuss the possible abscess. She does not believe the pocket of fluid is an abscess or infection. Hooray! She did say that I need to be mindful of any symptom changes, such as fever, chills, worse pain etc. and call right…

Good news from urologist
The urologist found absolutely nothing suspicious when he examined the inside my bladder this afternoon. Thank goodness, no new cancer! He did see one very small bladder "stone", actually a bladder "grain of sand", probably from mineral buildup but nothing to worry about. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.…
