My dad was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in May 2002. He had part of his colon removed and one spot removed from his liver. He began chemo in August 2002. He finished his treatment in September 2003. He has had clean pet and cat scans since his operation. Every month, his doctor monitors his CEA. In December 2003,…

new information on results
The doctor has changed his mind again and I am getting tired of it. He has decided that I should have surgery to remove the spot that has gotten bigger in size(1 1/2 cm from 8mm) and density before he does anything else. The spot is located on lower left lobe of my lung. Has anyone had this done before? Regarding the…

How do you deal with the anger?
When I was first diagnosed (June 03), I was of course scared, upset, angry, etc. Xanax was my first line of defense. As time went on and a CT scan showed shrinkage of my liver tumors, my attitude became more positive and I chose to get off of the Xanax. I also wanted off of it because it made me too tired. The last few…

Whine Time
I was just told by "chemo club" that Folfox 6 Protocol is 12 rounds, 24 weeks, NOT 8 rounds, 16 weeks as I had previously been led to believe. Just "recovered" from round 7, which was the worst so far in respect to side-effects, 'cause they took me off Oloxi-(anti-nausea) and gave me reglan-(was getting Oloxi-(SP?) and…

chemo before v. after
As some of you know, my husband had chemo and radiation recently - the chemo was Xeloda (oral version of 5-FU). After surgery, he'll be having just chemo - probably Xelox or Folfox (which are similar) and maybe Avastin. Have any of you done this? Was chemo just as bad after or not as bad since there wasn't also radiation?

My husband's (Mike) surgery was on April 23rd. He had a tumor inside his liver, lodged between the portal vein and the vena cava. Surgeons weren't sure how operable this would be. They weren't able to do their 1st choice which would have been a resection. Part of the tumor was attached to the vena cava. Instead they did a…
