HAPPY DAY NED
Just came back from the onc office and he reviewed my PET scan and still NED! He wasn't sure why the CEA rose a bit he thought maybe some stomach problems. I'm sooooo relieved right now. He wants me back in 6 weeks for blood work just to keep an eye on it. I can also start talking to my other doc about my reversal YEA! Oh…

Hi everyone! I was wondering is any of you semi colons have had healing touch massage or any other types of massage in dealing with chemo. I have been doing healing touch and it has helped me so much in as I fight with the nausea and fatigue. There have been some studies that have proven the benefits of theraputic massage…

My Last Chemo!
Today I went in for my last chemo treatment. I hadn't been sure earlier about whether I'd do it, but I ended up getting some extra energy and a mental boost and I decided I could push through. I still have my 5-FU drip until Sunday, but after that I am ALL DONE with the chemo! Thought I'd share my good news. :-) Jen

blood type diet
Hi everyone, hope you had a great weekend. I was wondering if any of you have heard of the "blood type diet." I went to a reputable vitamin/herbal store this weekend, and the man who works there recommended that my dad go on a blood type diet. I guess they take your blood type and tell you which foods are best for you…

had to reschedule scan - dad's sick and depressed
well my dad's scan was supposed to be tomorrow, but instead he came down with cellulitis of his left leg, probably as a result of his borderline diabetes, and they had to reschedule it. I am really worried about him these days, then again i always worry about him. I know he was worried about the scan but now this…

Question for stage 4 patients in remission
OK, so I returned to Atlanta last night after taking a trip to celebrate one year of life after my stage four diagnosis last May. The trip was great, because for three weeks I did not really worry myself with all these financial and health problems ... didn't forget about them, of course, but also did not worry about them.…

not great news and a question
my husband's latest scan shows slight growth in liver after being on 5FU/irinotecan and avastin for the past 6 months with mets to liver and lung- he is therefore no longer eligible for the trial and onc is switching him to xeloda and oxaliplatin. My question is this- have any of you been on one course of treatment with…

Should I be worried?
This must be the most embarrasing question that I have asked, but I think this group can relate to my fears. Since my sig resection in January, and subsequent chemo radiation I have been plagued with diarrhea and frequent bowel movement. I'm currently on a chemo "vacation" and now I'm constipated. Haven't had a BM for 2…

POST-CANCER P.R.
(Post Cancer Personal Record)I wanted to let you all know that on Sunday I ran a 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) run in 20:16 (6:32 per mile). That is my fastest time since being diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer almost seven and one-half years ago. In fact, it was my fastest time since I was 33 years old (I'm 43 now). I'm…

The Brave
Hi all, just had to tell you what my thoughts were yesterday. I woke up at 3:00 am with a stomach virus. Had the diarhea and throwing up. It only lasted a few hours, but it got me thinking about what you all go/went through with your chemo treatments. You are all so brave! I felt like sh*% for a few hours and was feeling…

attitude
I thought this said a lot for how we approach everything we do. jams ATTITUDE There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head. "Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she did and she had a wonderful day. The next day she woke up, looked…

Thursday and Friday I went to an action conference to discuss crc screening and ways to implement low cost programs in California...my colon was invited, but, of course, my MOUTH worked, too.... My fav question (they got tired of it) was 'WHY are we waiting till 50 to VALIDATE the possibility of crc?' And, the 2006…

RE: AVEMAR
Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. In response to Margo's thread about avemar: I did some research on it, and it sounds very promising. There has actually been a clinical trial performed on humans which showed to prolong survival of colorectal cancer patients and prevent metastasis to other organs. I went to the…

Hi everyone! I have been on CPT-11, 5-FU, and avastin for about 6 months. Most of my hair fell out (about 98%). Well, I am still on the chemo cocktail, but something strange has happened. My hair is starting to grow back. Can this happen while on chemo? I always understood the hair falls out and will not grow back until…
