Neuropathy
While waiting at the ONC office last week, I read the even one glass of alcholic beverage interferes with your nerves, making your neuropathy worse. They do not advice that you drink alhoholic beverages if you are having problems with neuropathy, even a glaa of wine.

Chemo or not to Chemo
I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op. Stage 2 in my ascending no lymph node involvement 0 for 37, but there were cells in the lymph channel. I'm 39 year old and my cousin (a colon rectal surgeon) thinks I should definitely have chemo. I had my first oncologist appointment and he's not sure. The Onco believes the data says chemo has…

One more thing.
I went for my first after DX MRI tonite. They postponed it because they want to check and see that I can have a MRI because of a previous surgery. I almost started crying in the waiting room, and after I found out they couldn't do it, after I had changed and everything into the gown, I almost lost it completely. I told the…

Oprah and the Black Eyed Peas - FlashMob Dance!! Very Uplifting!!!
I was watching Oprah the other day, she had the Black Eyed Peas on, and the crowd was awesome, if anyone wants to feel happy and smile, listen to the song, and watch this, it is sooooo amazing how they got 20,000 people to do this! One of the best things I've seen in a long time! (besides my kids and hubby of course lol)…

We've all heard it, and probably said it - The book - Bright-sided:
We have all been told to think positive, look on the bright side, there's a bigger meaning behind our cancer...whatever. I saw her interviewed on some show (The Daily Show?) and it cracked me up yet struck a chord with me. Sometimes I want to feel like crap and I don't want to cheer up. Things COULD be worse but they…

Wonderful things YOU say to cancer survivors (warriors)....
I'm taking from LizzyDavis on the 'stupid things' thread... I usually open with "Well, I'm here to answer questions, give out hugs, listen to ranting, and just generally be here for whatever makes this easier for you." Hugs, Kathi

Finally started chemo today!
Today was the day! Chemo finally started. I'm going to be very lazy - I am posting from my CaringBridge site rather than write it all again - I'm pretty darn tired right now. We had a change in plans. My husband Bruce was going to take me the first two times, and then if all goes well I will drive myself. I made a dentist…

fluid build up in the pelvic area
Hi I just got back my CT and it doesn't look too good. I've been in the fight for 3 years but now the CT shows "perihepatic, perisplenic, and pelvic ascites with increased omental nodularity". And we're supposed to understand this?? I did some research and it sounds like fluid around the site of the original tumor that was…

Hi everybody! Checked in last night but you guys must have been talking up a storm to make the site crash! Fit to be tied!
Hi Everyone - Well we got through the first Onocological appointment. Staged Denny at iiB and offered him a round of Chemo - FOLFIRI or he has the options of CAPECITABINE - ORAL (Xeloda). Onc said there is no evidence that Chemo helps at all for Stage ii and at most IF it did possibly could be between 5-10% chance on…

Hernia
Well it appears that the outie belly button that I was getting lately is a Hernia. Luckily, no surgery is needed right now, they will just keep an eye on it. My CEA level is normal and my CT Scan will be in two weeks. If all is good, then I will not need another scan until after the new year. My fingers, toes and crossed!…

They stopped my Chemo
I made it to number 8 of 12 and my onc told me that because of all the side effects I'm having that it's not worth going on. I go in today because I still have a blood clot from my first port that goes from my jugular to my arm pit. They scanned it a few days ago and it is the same from the July scan, not sure what they do…
