Pat's last CT scan show that Folfiri & Avastin is no longer working. Doc wants to start him on Regorafenib as soon as our insurance approves it. I remember Kathleen808 and steveandnat discussing it a few months ago and would like to hear any updates. I read up on it when it was approved about a year ago but now I would…

Have to postpone chemo.
I was gonna start my 6 rounds of folfox this Monday, but my belly button is not healing well. I have this continuous discharge coming out. The surgeon says that a piece of skin is dying and it has to peal off. But it feels like that this clear yellow liquid is coming from the layers of skin about the size of a quarter. I'm…

just a question (or 2)
My aunt had an appointment with her oncologist on Friday (the 16th of August). She had pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. Yesterday they told her that the colon cancer, which had already gone to her liver, had spread to both lungs and today they will talk with her about hospice. I guess my question is, does that…

Phil64 One Point One Update
It's been a little while since I've posted! I have a lot to update on... Some of my last posts where during the Erbitux treatments and just before a follow-up CT / MRI. The short update is that the follow-up MRI showed that the Erbitux was kicking the crap out of the cancer and that surgery was now an option. I had the…

Obstruction, pain, hospital
Hello my dear friends, These past 2 months have been the hardest during the past 5 years. Today **** woke up at 5 in severe pain. We had him at the ER by 8. His pain was at level 9-10 most of the day. They could get a bit of control on it for about 20 minutes at a time. It was a very, very hard start after a scan they…

My consult at Mary Crowley
1st of all I was very impressed with the doc who interviewed me. She was very informative, knowledgeable and answered all my questions at my level of understanding and expectations. The Phase 1 trial she recommended and I agreed to is a new genetically enhanced protein. The normal protein is common to all our cells. It…

Tired of doctors and hospitals
Sitting in the waiting room waiting for my husband to have yet another biopsy. He's had 2 CTs, 2 MRIs, a bone biopsy, a bone scan, and a nuclear white blood cell scan...plus a week in the hospital and they still have not determined why he has so much pain. We are hoping that this soft tissue biopsy and aspiration today…

Mental power and cancer.
My sister's neighbor just passed away after suffering from a gynecological cancer. She didn't know and didnt care what kind of cancer it was, what treatment she received from wich doctor. She just wanted to be healed, but didn't care how. I shared a room with a man during chemo. He had a colon cancer recurrence and same…

My 79 year old mother was diagnosed with rectal cancer last month. She has seen the radiology oncologist to discuss the 6 weeks of radiation she will have prior to surgery. She had a PET scan on Monday. They saw a "spot on the lung" and now want her to see a thoracic surgeon to have a biopsy done. They won't start the…

MoviPrep vs Miralax
Last night I prepped for my 3-year colonoscopy using MoviPrep. That stuff tastes awful! The doctor's office said to hold my nose, drink through a straw, and then suck on a lemon, lime, or orange after every sip. Then brush my teeth after each 8 oz. glass. Really??? Today I told the GI doc that I would never use MoviPrep…

Anyone hear from Ren?
His news about the ALPPS surgery not going forward was distressing to say the least. I've been checking his blog and nothing new. Has anyone heard from him? I do hope he's doing okay. Traci

Is it true?
Someone in Ren's comments on his blog said he passed. I am hoping that they are mistaken. It is so heartbreaking reading this kind of news. :( Lin

Zaltrap queston.
I did a search on zatrap side effects but did not get the answer I was looking for. Anybody ever been on zaltrap? How rough was it? Were you still able to work while on it? Another question, My wife will be on the zaltrap and xeloda for her treatment, since folfox and folfiri with avastin didn't work for her. Has anyone…

Just got home and got the mail, and there was a big envelope with a strangely familiar lion head on the address return label. So excited to see your work! It's a great article and signed too...by the author himself. You should be really proud that you pulled this off. I'm sure there are tons of people sending their writing…

Scan results 90% positive
Well, I was really hoping for an "All Clear" but I guess it wasn't meant to be... The MRI, CT Scan, and CEA level were clear (e.g. N.E.D.). My CEA continued to be under 1. But the PET scan shows uptake on the outside of the colon, near the rectom (spot where the original colon resection was done). The last two PET scans…
