core needle stereotactic biopsy today
My biopsy is today and I would be lying if I told you that I'm not worried. I have two areas of microcalcificaitons in clusters. A friend of mine who does breast ultrasounds said that "I would be concerned too" after I read her the report. So I'm going to work half day..praying that I can concentrate. Do I need to take…

Results of MRI
Well, I had the MRI last Friday. TWO HOURS AND 20 MINUTES IN THAT MACHINE!!!! If I had any military secrets, I'd have spilled my guts. I went back to my oncologist yesterday to get the results. I think I'm being paid back for never having flunked a test in elementary, high school, or college. I can't seem to pass any test…

Microcalcifications
I went for my stereotactic biopsy today for microcalcifications and I am very worried about the outcome of the results. I have been reading different sites about microcalcification and sometimes I feel positive when I read 80 to 85 percent are benign and then other sites I read says it usually means cancer. I am on a…

Scared..
I am terrified of taking Chemo. Had lumpectomy 11-18-2009 and removal of one lymph gland under my arm. 12 other lymph glands tested clear. PET scan was clear. But Doctors say I will still need Chemo and Radiation therapy. Just don't understand why. They also say I have a 35% chance of it returning, according to the ONCA…

Chemo or not
I am new to this site & desperately need some advice. I am 43 & was diagnosed with IDC Stage 1 on Oct. 26th I had a bilateral mastectomy Nov. 23rd with some lymph nodes removed under each arm. I had one tumor in my left breast, but chose to have both removed because I was told I had a 90% chance of getting it in the right…

Can dreams really come true?
Last night I had a dream that my onc told me my tumor markers were down below the number I had when first tested. *Sigh* Wouldn't that be wonderful? I don't see him until December 18th. Peace. Linda

Infection during radiation?
I'm on Day 18 of 33 Days of Radiation, and had my weekly visit with my rads oncologist today. He thinks I have an infection in one breast, and has put me on a 10-day course of antibiotics for the infection and Advil to bring down the inflammation. As I've mentioned before, my doctor has a lousy "poker face," so I think I…

Tamoxifen and a rare uterine cancer connection known since 1993
When I first learned of the connection between uterine papillary serous carcinoma and Tamxifen use to stave off repeat breast cancer. I assumed it was a recent discovery and doctors weren't mentioning it because they had yet to learn of it. Today I found this abstract from 1993. Whatever happened to first do no harm? J…

1st Chemo on Wednesday
I start my regimen this Wednesday (Cytoxan and Taxotere) and hope to be fully recovered in time to enjoy Christmas. I'm mostly glad to have a plan in place and be moving forward with the tools I need to win this fight, but I am starting to get a little nervous. I start taking steroids tomorrow and will be drinking as much…

Breast Cancer Angel Poem
Merry Christmas, Dear Sisters in the Fight! I wanted to share this poem I wrote about our common fight. I sent it with the ornament I sent to my secret sister - but wanted to share it with the rest of you. It is my hope that it brings comfort and peace to us all during this trying time - especially at Christmas. I really…

Bone scan experience ....
Well ... I had the bone scan yesterday. I had myself all worked up. Got the injection at 8:00 AM then had 3 hours to kill. The injection was not bad at all (and I am a big CHICKEN!). To help kill time I'd scheduled my echocardiogram for 9:00 ... which was in the same building ... and that didn't take long at all ... so…

Need your prayers
Having cancer is sh***y enough because it takes so much from you - loss of breasts, health, hair. Those I can deal with (at least most of the time) but this latest is SO-O-O hard. My dad has been battling bladder cancer since before my mom died in 2008. He's had his bladder removed and uses an ostomy bag. Those who are…

Cancer antigen bloodwork range
Does anyone know what makes the CA test results vary within the acceptable range? My normal range is 0-38 and my results flucuate. Any ideas why? My onco is not worried, but I would feel more comfortable if my number were low, and stayed low.

My Bubble Burst Today!
This afternoon I had an appt. with my surgeon. My tumors have not shrunk as much as she would like. She said I don't have an option to have a lumpectomy since I have 3 tumors in my right breast and there's no question, at least 10 lymph nodes will be removed when I have a masectomy. I'll be having another 3D Ultrasound…
