Has anyone had double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery because of testing positive for BRCA 2? I am asking because I have surgeries on 6/17/2010. I originally had a lumpectomy back in August of 2004 - I am in remission as of 5/16/2010 - now I have to deal with this. God is good and has been good - just another path I…

I have tried just about everything I can think of. If any of you have had this problem, how in the world do you cope? Any and all ideas will…

Breastfeeding and breastcancer
I'm 36 years old and was diagnosed with infiltrating ductal carcinoma. After my biopsy, no one from the cancer support staff where I had it done called me or anyone from my OBGYN doctors office. I had to place 2 calls to my doctor and she finally called me on Monday at 5PM and told me I had cancer but that she didn't know…

Update on DIEP vs TRAM flap procedure decisions
I went to the plastic surgeon today to discuss my reconstruction options. He has done over 300 breast reconstructions and is trained also in doing the DIEP. After examining me and from his experience, he advised me my best option was something called 'muscle sparing free TRAM flap' surgery. He said it gives the best…

I am a one year survivor of breast cancer. The "Cancer Fatigue" continues to rear its ugly head. Along with the "dead tiredness", I have an achiness in my calves. Does this sound familiar? Any suggestions?

Puffs just aren't gonna cut it this summer!
Wow, am I glad I finally found this site! Just by reading a little bit everyday, I've learned a lot. Unfortunately, I've learned some things that were either done wrong or just plain not done for me during my "blip on the screen" trip with cancer. I"ve handled a bad mammo, 2 core biopsies, one day called for results,…

Surgery date
I settled for a lumpectomy since all my CT and bone scans were clean, plus the MRI of the right breast was clean--granted that's no guarantee, but I looked at clean scans as a very positive thing.Plus I would still have to have chemo regardless if I had a mast instead of a lump.Besides the sentinel node bio he's doing…

I will also be getting an infusion of Zometa every six months for three years to prevent bone mets (I have mild osteopenia). My questions are: 1) are there any…
