Emily, that's great. Be
Emily, that's great. Be prepared for the emotions that will take over. I did my first Making Strides walk last year and it was a very emotional experience. Don't get me wrong, it was wonderful at the same time and something I will continue as long as I am able. Enjoy it!!0 -

My sister did the 24 hour Relay For Life in my area in my honer this year and her along with some others on her team raised 13,000.00 for cancer. She is truly one of my hero's. My husband and i attended and walked the 1/4 mile track a few times along with her. They also had the luminescent bags lining the track through the night and my sister sent me a picture and posted it to my face book. It was "HOPE" spelled out in the luminescent bags and it was huge and lit up a hill by her camp sight. Along with a message that read "The light of Hope burns brightly on the hill for you tonight". I don't think I've cried harder since that night she sent this. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I hope your experience will be as emotional as mine was. It helped me to understand how many out there fight for us.0 -
Have fun!
I did our local Relay three weeks ago and it was a ton of fun! The luminaries are beautiful and so inspiring. It rained off and on throughout our relay but somehow during the luminaria lighting it stopped and the moon even came out for an hour or so. Like others have said - it can be emotional too. For me, the survivor lap was the most emotional part. All those survivors, from a 6 month old baby to older people in wheelchairs. I was overwhelmed the whole time. It was really encouraging to see.
You'll be tired - but it will be a really good tired. Have a great time!0 -

That is awesome - I hope you have a wonderful time!! My family is already planning for the Komen Walk for next year - 2 sisters, their daughters, and their grand-daughters (and we'll let the guys come, too!)0 -

Hooray for you!
I have the opportunity to do the same thing next weekend - everytime I think of 'the survivors lap' I want to cry, but I don't want to cry in front of so many people. Hopefully, I'll keep it together. I want to show support for those who have supported us.

Go get 'em girl!
Hope you have a wonderful walk tomorrow! The survivor shirts are great! They are purple and a nice change from pink! When I wear it so many people stop me (because it has SURVIVOR written huge on the back) and tell me "way to go" and "congrats" and I feel like I have a whole cheerleading squad supporting me...of total strangers! Enjoy the day!0 -

The luminaries lit up at night are very emotional. I like the message jd1224, the light of Hope burns brightly on the hill for you tonight.0 -

Like you I am going to my first Relay next Saturday! I can't wait! I haven't been able to do a lot. This chemo is knocking me for a loop. And as my luck goes, I have my third round of Taxol Wed. and the Relay is Sat. But I'm going if they have to carry me around that lap!lolol0 -
