I received a call yesterday from a research group from Yale. They are doing research on weight and breast cancer. They believe weight loss can reduce recurrence rates in those of us who are weight challenged. it is a six month program starting in Feb. I hope I'm in the group that gets weekly face to face counseling. The…

Went for 1st radiation today
It took quite a while and my poor arm (the only one I can raise) was hurting. My hand went numb and the female tech had to slowly help my arm back to my body (I have a reverse total shoulder prosthesis in my arm). It was quite sore for about an hour but it's ok now. The techs took pictures which they showed to rad/onc,…

anemia
Hi All, After my regular check up, my onc. called and told me I have severe anemia.I usually speak to the nurse, so it was scary that he called! He told me to get on iron supplements right away. If it doesn't improve, it will be done intravenously. This explains SO MUCH to me. The constant fatigue of getting through a day…

Took a trip to North Holland today...
To a beautiful city from the 15th century named Leeuwarden. With all that has been happening, I really didn't feel much up to it, but went anyway. Two stirring things happened that touched me deeply: At the swap meet we went to first, I was given the book 'Life Lessons for Women', by the creators of the Chicken Soup for…

Friends wanting to show support by shaving their heads
My sis and I were talking about my hair. I was telling her how until you lose your hair like this it is hard to truly understand what it is like to wait for your hair to grow back. I explained to her that it is like when you have a baby girl with little or no hair and at 2yrs old she still barely has any hair. My hair is…

Recent Studies of Triple Negative Breast Cancer: Most Women Survive
From http://www.hormonenegative.blogspot.com/ Most of the time when we look at statistics, they are already dated and represent survival rates that are several years old. SoCal Gathering of Support – check in here if interested
Dear ones, To say that the last few weeks have been difficult for all of us...losing Heidi and Moopy so suddenly, bad news and setbacks for others...there’s probably no way to put our sadness and anger and fear into words that would be enough. When words fail me, I wish –- and many of you have wished aloud, too -– that I…

Help..fingernails are separating
I've just finished chemo and my last 2 treatments were Cytoxan/Taxol. My fingernails appear to be separating from the nail bed. I see that the "white" area is extending down to about half way on one nail so far and the sides are white (instead of the normal pink color) which I'm thinking means that the nail is going to…

In Memory of Lisa Gray Hughes
I am as shocked and saddened as all my pink sisters in the unexpected loss of our beautiful Lisa "Moopy". I was sitting here wondering what I could do to show my love for both her and her wonderful husband, Joe. There is a website titled gratefulness.org that is a very calming environment. There you can light a candle for…
