Axillary Node Dissection
I'm pretty sure this has been discussed 100,000 times, but I have a question. I have about a 4 or 5 inch incision under my arm from the dissection of my lymph nodes. It has been a couple of weeks since the procedure and the incision still feels like the skin is pulling even though visibly it is not. It isn't red, and I…

REFLECTIONS
Well, it's been a year since my diagnosis. What a year it's been! I remember feeling the lump and then the fright that accompanied it. I remember feeling so alone with my feelings at that very moment. My family was sound asleep and I could not wake anyone up. I wouldn't do that to them. I left my bed and headed to the…

Still crocheting hats for our chemo clinics
I visited my old job today and asked my friend Sherlyn if she needed any more hats. She sells some of them for me to help with my yarn expenses. She told me that she did not need any yet but that she could use some in kid sizes. I asked her why. Turns out a lady in the next office was trying to find a hat to fit her 4 year…

Pink Bus request for family member *Baby Whisperer* Thursday
Hi Ladies. I have a family member who was recently told she has breast cancer. She has had biopsy and pet scan, but will not have results until Thursday. She is scared and concerned about what's to come. I told her of this site, and how wonderful you pink sisters are. I know she has been checking out some of the posts, but…

Stupid question at a company picnic
We had so much KFC fried chicken left after the event that I told them to start taking it home. My beloved site supervisor picked up the tongs and the plastic bags and starting serving it out to each person that wanted some to take home. I told him to get me 2 pieces too. He said "which kind do you want? One breast or…

Bad luck
I just had a double masectomy last Thursday and seemed to be recovering nicely. I went in yesterday for my pathology report and of course didn't get the news I'd hoped for. I will have to undergo another surgery on one of my breast next week to take additional skin off due to the cancer spreading along the skin tissue.…

Dancing with NED, except for having osteoporosis...
Although I am extremely happy to report NED on my 3rd year mammogram, chest x-ray and blood work, I am now diagnosed as having osteoporosis. Dr. is quick to suggest IV infusion of Reclast or monthly Actonel pills. Since I have about every side effect that Femara can offer, I am of course reluctant to try these drugs and…

I 'm gonna love you through it
Hi everyone, it has been a long time since I visited this site. So sad to keep on reading stories about more women diagnosed with this ugly disease. Any way, I just wanted to share the name of this song by Martina McBride, I can't help it, I always cry when I listen to it (I'M GONNA LOVE YOU THROUGH IT). It is like she is…

Hi, Ladies, It has been a while since I have been on the site. I started working this past week, which is tiring in itself, but I have had questions about Tamoxifan for a while. I asked my oncologist about the body pain, fatique, and weight loss. I feel horrible because she basically ignored what I was saying by singing the…

radiation side effects
I am due to start radiation in a few weeks and currently have an expander in place following a single mastectomy. I was wondering how other women with expanders faired in regards to skin thickening, encapsulation, etc. Also, have others experienced fatigue from radiation? I have heard various reports on this. Thank you!

post chemo effects
I am six weeks post chemo. I had 4 rounds of A/C and 12 rounds of Taxol and finished mid-July. My bone and joint pain is fading, my energy is coming back, and I have a full head of hair again, but in the past couple of days, my eyelashes and eyebrows have fallen out, and my nails are numb and turning black. Does anyone…

I had a tissue expander put in my left side on Friday. Beginning Tuesday, I will go in twice a week to have it filled until mid-October when I will have my right side removed and both sides reconstructed My left side is still very tender and twice the side of my right side. It's like the PS stuck a grapefruit in there. I…

Just checking in. Also survivors guilt.
It's probably been a while. No I have not been sick. The garden has an abundance of food at present and I have been home canning. It is an old art but does not rely on electricity as a freezer does. Since cancer I am no longer the workaholic (at least away from home anyway) so home canning is a way to make up for the lost…

OT Hurricane Isaac
Isaac was the "little" storm that packed a terrible punch! Many in my area flooded and are still without power. We finally got power back last night and I am here to tell you that a hot shower is soooo wonderful! Say a little prayer for the folks affected. My older sister and her husband and two dogs are here napping. They…

Appointment with the onco left us all frustrated.
Hi Everyone, Still no more chemo as my immune system is wiped out. I have to agree on this, the last few months I was nauseated and exhausted for 5 of 7 days, and the other 2 were not good, but tolerable, with one infection after another. Results of the scans were frustrating for everyone to say the least. Pet showed no…
