Shingle Shot
I know back when Linda was diagnose with shingle we did have a discussion on the shot to prevent shingles. Has anyone had a shot to prevent shingles since that time? I am on Faslodex and my primary care doctor reply to my wanting it was to "have a note from my oncologist". I just had a flu shot with no problems. Just as…

OT ~~ Colonoscopy UPDATE
Just found out there is a history with colon polyps in my family. (brother) I am so amazed that family members won't share this sort of information until they are pressed for it. I begged my brother to come by for warmth, a good meal and a hot shower. His power has been out for 9 days due to Hurricane Sandy. While we were…

CT results and shingles update
I had a CT scan last Monday...the initial reading was compared to an older (june) scan instead of the more recent one in August. So it took a while to get complete results. Got the email from the onc...."stable, maybe slight improvement". Two of the lymph nodes are .2mm smaller, the rest remain unchanged. So we will…

Best Article on Lymphedema I've Ever Read
Lymphedema is the dirty little secret of breast cancer. No one wants to talk about it. I was assured by both my BS and PS that with only sentinel nodes removed I wouldn't get it. They were wrong. The ensuing months of trying to get someone to help me, listen to me was infuriating! I found the step up speak out website and…

Preparing for visits
I was diagnosed with DCIS almost a month ago. Even after the initial shock began to go away, just dealing with all the information being thrown at me was incredibly overwhelming! I'm still in that phase of what seems like never-ending consultations and second opinions with so much information to digest. I’ve started trying…

Good visit with my surgeon
Had my appointment with my surgeon today. After re-reading the PET report, examining me, doing an ultrasound in his office and calling and conferring with my medical oncologist, the feeling is that whatever is showing up on the PET in my left axillary region is post-op in nature from my recent mastectomy. He saw no…

I had a great experience yesterday!
Several weeks ago my friend had a yard sale at my house. Since I have no hair it is obvious I am an onc patient...this woman comes up to me and starts asking me questions. Then she gives me her business card and explains that she works for a company that teaches estheticians how to care for/treat oncology patients. She…

Hi all, I haven't been on in a long while. I never use to pay too much attention to little aches and pains. Just not a doctor person UNTIL breast cancer last year. Have I told you about my black boxing gloves?
A package arrived for me one day (with a little pink angel known as Ayse's return address). Low and behold--there were my Everlast black boxing gloves! They are studded with pink and silver and glittery "diamonds" and one says "Renee" in pink glitter and the other says "Believe" in pink glitter. I totally love them. Ayse…
