As John mentioned the oral sex part of the equation as far as our age group is concerned. My wife believes she was the main cause of my getting cancer. Has anyone else's wives wondered that?

I was just 23 when I had laryngectomy due to cancer. SECOND-HAND SMOKE. Geneticly predisposed, as cancer on both sides of family, both parents died from. Am now 65. Lost the weight, changed diet and exercise, avoid being around smoke. No cancer since

I put my Cancer down to passive smoke. All my life I've been in places that were full of smoke and my partner up till I got Cancer smoked in the house,the living room was always full of smoke from friends and family as I wasn't smoking I could feel the burning of tobacco fumes in my throat and in the morning my mouth tasted cigarette smoke.

History of dental/teeth problems - root canals, fillings, etc.  

(For e.g.,

# of fillings before diagnosis,

# of root canals before diagnosis;

amount of time between previous dental work and diagnosis

(as i suspect shody dental work contributed to mine)

I had crowns on every tooth in my mouth, root canals on probably 75%.  I had cavities all my life and two permanent molars pulled before I got out of high school.  I saw a dentist multiple times a year, every year.  My teeth had started to break off at the roots right before my tongue surgery.  Shortly after my tongue cancer, I had all my teeth pulled.  This had been planned before the tongue problem came up.  Having my teeth all pulled helped my health tremendously.  My mouth looks better than it has in years--I had oral lichen planus and it's pretty much gone now.  There was some question as to whether or not my rough crowns contributed to the cancer.  Originally, the ENT thought I bite my tongue in that area, but that actually wasn't possible due to missing teeth.  I'll never know if the crowns were part of the problem, but I don't miss my teeth and I was happy to see them go.
