Radiation is scaring me to craziness
I have a fear of heights and when I receive radiation it is on a table high up. I know I am fine on the table, but my mind starts worrying about falling off if the table moves too fast or if the radiation machine malfunctions and hits me. I have been cooperating with the two technicians who do the radiation but when they…

nonsupportive husband
Anyone in the situation with the nonsupportive selfish husband who has only thought about himself during my mother's treatment. She is tired(he is more tired), nauseated(he feels worse) etc; He has always been like this but I cannot even believe the self centered behavior and he is in perfect health. I have tried to talk…

Had 4th chemo yesterday
4 down two to go. It was an uneventful day for which I am thankful. It was my first visit to this infusion center and I was very impressed with it. It is much smaller than the one we went to in Tampa. Much more personal touch here. We got there at 8:00 and walked out at 4:30. No reactions this time. This place has four…

Book Recommendation
My mother has a friend who was recently diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. She wanted my mother to tell me about a book she received from a family member. It is called "No Place Like Hope" by Vickie Girard. I have read about 3/4 of it so far and wish I would have found it months ago. Just wanted to share.

Celebrate Good Times!!
Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes... they worked. I was able to get my 6th and final chemo treatment and as of tomorrow when I get my Neulasta injection I will be finished with this original plan of treatment. It is an amazing relief and a little scary at the same time. For almost a year now, we have been…

I'm one of them!
This week has been hard for our family because I just got my diagnosis a week ago Friday. So we decided to go to the local zoo this afternoon. You know, do something normal to get our minds off cancer for a few hours. We start walking around and there are all these people with t-shirts on from a cancer walk there! Lots of…

Mom's Oncology Visit Today
I took my mom to the oncologist today. It was a bit more hopeful today. He even aplologized for me feeling so upset last week. No blood draw today but she did receive Procrit. He feels if her bone marrow recovers she may resume chemo in small doses. The carbo may have to be discontinued but the Taxol can be resumed in…

Had my appointment with medical onocologist
Today was my appointment with the medical onocologist in Illinois. She was very upbeat and listened to my previous experiences with the chemo treatments. She too will give the two drugs over the 8 hours that I needed previously to prevent reactions. My next chemo treatment (number 4) will be June 17th. She is doing more…

New at this also
Hi, my name is Caz, I'm 54 and I had a da Vinci hysterectomy on May 20th for endometrial cancer. The diagnosis was complete shock to me (as I am sure it is to everyone) I went to my doctor on April 2nd as I had a very small amount of pinkish discharge and was worried about it, having been in menopause for a couple of…

You won't believe this!
Still no chemo today. My platelets are still 93 and they won't give me chemo until they are 100 or more. So, I go back again next Wednesday for another lab draw. I pray that next week I will finally be able to get chemo #6 !!! Waiting patiently (that is the lesson, right)! LOL

New to this site and scared
My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 uterine cancer in February. She has received three cycles of chemo so far. The problem is that her blood counts are so low in between cycles that she has been hospitalized for blood and platelet transfusions. We saw the oncologist on Friday and he feels the chemo should stop because she…

met with my surgeon today
Hi all. I met with my surgeon today and wanted to pass on a couple of things he said about UPSC. He had just returned from a major cancer conference. I asked him if there is anything new with UPSC treatment. As you all know- we are a small population and that means we don't get a lot of attention in the research field, but…

I still wasn't able to have chemo today. Many of my counts were worse this week than last! My platelets went from 41 thous. to 60 thous., but my WBC, RBC, HGB and Magnesium went down. So I got more IV mag today, 2 units of blood and a Neumega shot. I have to go back for the next 4 days and get Neumega shots. They didn't…

transfusion
Hello. I was told during my last chemo treatment that I may need a blood transfusion. Has anyone had this experience? They have been giving me the shot for red blood cells for the past 2 weeks but I guess it isn't working enough. I constantly hear my heart beating in my ears in addition to being exhausted. I am hoping that…

Gene therapy & P53, and Anti-HER-2/neu-targeted therapy
This piece of research is really hard to understand, but builds on some earlier research I did on epidermal growth factor type II receptor. This 'factor' can be tested for with fresh tissue samples taken during your hysterectomy, and KNOWING you had this factor would be VERY important information, as there are drugs that…

Farah
Did any of you see Farah's story on TV? She has suffered so much. I had wondered if she was going to be able to let go after her show was aired. I was astonished at some of the treatments she had to have. Also there was a special on our local TV Kare 11 about a rare cancer and the Dr that was treating it. It was very…
