Taxol at 40
Touted as the best-selling cancer drug in history began 40 years ago this past summer (2002). Taxol was found to be virtually insoluble in water. "It had the solubility of a brick". The compound wouldn't dissolve very much in any solution. Without a way to get it into a cancer patient, what good was it? It was discovered…

Pet scan vs CT scan
I'm nearing the end of the 6 month cycle of chemo and the doc has me scheduled for a CT scan. I've heard that PET scans can be a better diagnostic tool for ovarian, however, the insurance companies won't pay for them. Does anyone have info on this subject? Hope to hear from someone and my blessings to all. Sue

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could tell me a little bit more about the signs of a recurrence - are they the same as the original signs (bloating etc.)? However, I really feel like the side effects have been getting worse. Besides feeling tired and beat up all the time I'm having this pain, that's somewhat controlled by pain…

Chemotherapy Resistance
Drug resistance is the principal reason for the failure of chemotherapy. Some tumors (like adenocarcinoma) are highly resistant to virtually all anti-cancer drugs, while other tumors are quite sensitive. Most patient tumors fall in between these two extremes, with resistance to some drugs but not to others. Many mechanisms…
