2 years ago today, the official fight began....
Today, 2 years ago, I was reeling from the diagnosis of rectal cancer. I also was in pain where the tumor was pressing against my tailbone. I was not aware of my family here yet, and pretty much went it alone. Luckily, the following March, I found you all!!! Luckier still, it was about the time the 'serious stuff'…

erbitux and leg muscle weakness
Hi all...wondering if anyone out there on erbitux has experienced leg muscle weakness such that regular walking is an effort? Husband has been on erbitux for 10 weeks and has trouble walking around the block or around airports to make flights. He's been on Folfurri for 1 year and he's getting so very tired and weak.

Heart's good to go
I saw the cardiologist that my oncs wanted me to see to help determine if the recent chest pains I've been having are either a) a toxic effect of the chemo; b) an actual heart problem, or c) something else. The answer? C. According to the cardiologist I don't fit the profile for chemo toxicity of the heart and my stress…

I know that sounds crazy but during all his previous treatments, he had side effects. I have to point out that he is now…

CT Scan Contrast
Unfortunately I am allergic to the contrast dye they use when given CT Scans and was wondering if anyone else has take pre-meds to counter act the reaction and if so which meds? My Onc Doc stated he gives Predizone (steriod), then Benedryl and Zantac. You know me, big SISSY when it comes to taking stuff.

Problem with Quillan book
I opened up my copy of Quillan's book determined to keep an open mind. This book bothered me when I got it a few months ago. Miralax caution
I saw my gastroenterologist today about my upcoming colonoscopy and asked about Miralax (which has been mentioned here) for prep. He said no, because Miralax in the concentration required to clear the colon has been found to be slightly toxic, causing neuropathy. I asked for a reference, and he said the research had been…

Toast for Thanksgiving!
Hi Everyone, My job sent out an e-mail to get people to write back something to them that was a blessing in disguise. I of course wrote about my dx of colon cancer. E7820 or ABX-EGF. Anyone on this?
More bad news for Mark yesterday. Tumors in his lungs have grown on the Irinotecan alone. Yesterday the doctor had few options - continue on the Irinotecan to see if it suddenly works (don't sound good) or go on Erbitux with the Irinotecan. That way he'll have no hair and acne on top of it. Sorry I'm getting cynical but…
