Post Chemo & What I Know for Sure
I know that we need to be easy on ourselves. We are all so very different. We may be getting the same chemo, but we may not be getting the same side effects. We all rebound differently and that is so important to remember. I was certainly one to tell everyone be easy on yourself, yo've been thru so much, but I didn't heed…

Is there anyone like me
So I am new but have been reading for the last six months the discussion boards. I had surgery last october for breast cancer and although the breast surgeron oncologist,my oncoclogy doctor and the breast navigator seem to love to sing the song "you are healed and cancer free." It is a great song if I felt in my heart that…

You guys give me HOPE
Not that I never really had lack of hope towards my cancer. But as each day goes by and I sit here reading more and more posts, I can't help but be amazed by the the love and support here on this board. Not just us newbies starting or midway through our cancer treatments, but the "pioneers" from a few years back checking…

Port date and chemo date
Well I got a port date of this Friday May 6 and a chemo start date of May 10th. Why do I have to have dates with Port and Chemo? I want to skip these two dates and get a date with NED! (Tee hee hee). It will be an adventure I am sure. The good thing is that I am into adventures, just not this kind. One thing the medical…

Traci's magic bus - one more clear mammo!
And I celebrated with a new pair of shoes - okay, sandals - hoping warm weather will be on the way. And when it does, a pedicure!!! I have to admit I was suffering from 'scanxiety'. Like Nancy, I had a few issues, some pain, a little 'shape shifting' and I just didn't know what to expect. I'm a year and half post surgery…

Hello everyone, I have spent the past week poking around this forum and getting some very sound advice from you ladies. Can we still be organ donors?
I keep forgetting to ask this question to my oncologist. My drivers license expires in September and its currently sporing an orange "organ donor" sticker. Can someone who's had cancer still be an organ donor or for that matter a blood donor? I would think not.. Thanks, Lorrie

Off the Topic... I saw the Dalai Lama speak yesterday at USC
He mentioned that he was in Japan last week and saw the devastation. While he was there, he caught an infection and was on antibiotics. At the advice of his doctor, he canceled several speaking engagements, but was able to make yesterdays event. He has a peaceful, kind, and happy aura about him. He also loves to laugh.…

Junk Swap II - maybe?
We're heading to 1/4 year since first Junk Swap - anybody interested in doing another one? For those who are newer - 'Junk Swap' is packaging up a box of "whatever' you have and sending to someone else. NO IT IS NOT GARBAGE - just good stuff you have that you don't really use anymore or want. You get a box of 'stuff' from…

Hello everyone, I've been reading the discussion boards since I've been diagnosed invasive ductal carcinoma, metastatic carcinoma in auxiliary lymph nodes at the end of March. I‘m triple negative. What to expect
My Mom was diagnosed with Stage I left breast mammary/ductal ca in 2010. Opted for lumpectomy, XRT, and Femara since it was a small lesion (1.2-cm). Almost a year to the date, her cancer has come back in same area but much bigger--2-cm. ER -, PR +, HER2/neu ??--same as last year. She had a left simple mastectomy and will…

I made it through Day 1 of chemo - not so bad after all :-)
Hi everyone: Well I made it through Day 1 of chemo and hey, not so bad. Amazing nurses! A After being hooked up with the nausea drugs first, then Taxotere (Docetaxel)followed by Cyclophosphamide - I was finished in 4 hours (took longer due to it being the first time and navigating the system.) I did not get a port placed…

I've decided to go topless!
I went to see gyn Friday and have lost 5 lbs. Ran around doing lots of errands in the afternoon and met a woman in Michael's Crafts who had less hair than I did and she wasn't wearing a hat like I was. I admired her confidence to go shopping like that and made a decision when I got home that I wasn't wearing a hat anymore.…

Can anyone shed some light on the BRCA test?
I was wondering if anyone had this test. My onc. kind of ignored me when I asked, so I never pursued it. Now my daughter's doctor is asking her about the gene and if I carried it. Was I lax in not having this test? Please advise or tell me if you had it done. I want to be pro active for my daughters and now I feel bad.…

Digestive (chemo) question!
I had my first chemo on Friday (T/C) and ended up having to take Immodium yesterday morning (had the opposite problem prior to that), which took care of all the diarrhea, bloating, etc. in one dose. I have felt fine since then, till now. I have a lot of gas (upper - burping, etc. but no other symptoms) and was wondering…
