I've decided to go topless!
I went to see gyn Friday and have lost 5 lbs. Ran around doing lots of errands in the afternoon and met a woman in Michael's Crafts who had less hair than I did and she wasn't wearing a hat like I was. I admired her confidence to go shopping like that and made a decision when I got home that I wasn't wearing a hat anymore.…

Can anyone shed some light on the BRCA test?
I was wondering if anyone had this test. My onc. kind of ignored me when I asked, so I never pursued it. Now my daughter's doctor is asking her about the gene and if I carried it. Was I lax in not having this test? Please advise or tell me if you had it done. I want to be pro active for my daughters and now I feel bad.…

Is there anyone like me
So I am new but have been reading for the last six months the discussion boards. I had surgery last october for breast cancer and although the breast surgeron oncologist,my oncoclogy doctor and the breast navigator seem to love to sing the song "you are healed and cancer free." It is a great song if I felt in my heart that…

Digestive (chemo) question!
I had my first chemo on Friday (T/C) and ended up having to take Immodium yesterday morning (had the opposite problem prior to that), which took care of all the diarrhea, bloating, etc. in one dose. I have felt fine since then, till now. I have a lot of gas (upper - burping, etc. but no other symptoms) and was wondering…

IF this is cumulative, I am in trouble next time, re: chemo!
Boy oh boy, no one could have accurately described this exhaustion, wiped out feeling without me experiencing it for myself! I had my first treatment on Friday and it hit Saturday evening. I didn't even have the energy to speak with my brother on the phone last night while lying in bed! Thankfully I have a little more…

A little milestone for me on this journey
I saw my surgeon this afternoon for a follow-up appointment to my mammogram last week (he never feels I've been completely evaluated until he gives me a breast exam himself). I'm almost 2 years out from diagnosis, and he's now switching me from 6-month mammograms to annual mammograms. It's a small thing, I know -- I'll…

feeling so sad
I reconnected with my half brother just a few months ago. I actually had only met him a few times growing up, and he was 14 years older than I. He was a career Navy officer and served our country for most of his life. During visits, I was always in awe of him and respected him so much. The past few months were so…

OT - So, the oldies station was on
as it almost always is in my car. Worked half a day, ran up to help my Mom, shopped, cooked, eetc. Then ran about 10 errands for myself. It has been very warm here, but with wicked thunderstorms & tornado watches (a few touched down) but certainly not on the scale that the rest of the country has seen. Anyway, it's a…

Finished Chemo! Couldn't have done it without you.
I don't post often because chemo hit me pretty hard. I just finished 4 A/C and 4 Taxol dense dose. My fingernails are purple, no hair anywhere - not even eyelashes, very few red cells just to name a few side effects BUT I DID IT. I don't know how I could have done it without reading all the tips about drinking water, what…

Did my doctor drop the ball?
I was diagnosed July 11, 2008 with stage 3A invasive ductal carcinoma with 16/19 nodes positive. I am triple negative and BRCA negative. I found the lump myself while showering. In January of 2006, I sought the care of my primary care physician because I was experiencing a discharge. The doctor did an exam and found…

Shout out to your favorite Doctor
When I started my BC journey back in October, I've been placed under the care of some very professional and caring doctors. Although I wouldn't trade any of them for another there is one doctor who had the ability to make me laugh all the time in those exam rooms. Dr. James Zasuly, my plastic surgeon is such a goof, of…
