Hi, I just wanted to let everyone know that normal things can happen even with breast cancer. I finished chemo July 16th. My battle started in Jan. with a mastecomy in May and chemo shortly there after. Today my husband and I went fishing. This is a first this summer. It was so nice and peaceful. I even managed to catch a…

Strange thing Happening
This is really scary & I'm not sure what to do. I finished Chemo May 4th, seem to be recovering from that pretty well other than Neuropathy in my hands, legs, & feet. Finished Rads Tuesday (Yay!)but, here's what happened & has been happening since... Monday night I had sharp pains in my breast, wasn't sure if it was from…

Painful hips and legs at night?
I am finished with my chemo (Cytoxin/Taxotere) and 36 radiation treatments. I have been done with radiation about a week. Now I am having pain in my legs and hips at night. It feels like when I had the Neulasta injections. Not stabbing type pain, just dull, achy pain that wakes me up. Anyone have these and what did you do…

Cancerversary
Today was my 1yr cancerversary and I had an appointment with my surgeon. I had a lumpectomy on my lower left breast. My scar runs right where a bra goes under the breast. With all the heat and humidity this summer I've had a lot of irritation. . Doc told me I have "radiation irritation". I was surprised because I finished…

I'm not complaining, mind you....
I am 10 days post 2nd cycle of taxotere/cytoxin. I began losing my hair on day 14 after the first cycle, but I have never lost it all. I still have eyelashes/eyebrows/leg hair, etc., and the remaining hair on my head is growing! I have had some side effects from the chemo, but with the exception of 'yucky mouth' and less…

More good news
One year ago today I started chemotherapy. If anyone had told me getting better would take a whole year, I think I would have collapsed in tears. Or that my hair would still not be completely grown back after one year. But I just took it in steps, ...chemo....lumpectomy.....radiation....Femara..... and tried not to think…

New pic of me on the beach!
I thought I would put up a vacation pic of Hubby and me with my hubby's grandson. We had a great time. The salt air and water is very healing. This was before i lost my hair.

question for you guys
Ok...here is a weird one...I will describe it a step at a time.. 1) I go in for routine mammogram, they find a few micro calcifications, and an enlarged lymph node and do an ultra sound and send me home saying we will just wait and see. 2) I come back in six months and the micro calcifications have decreased. However, they…

Has anyone seen a counselor to help with the emotional part of all of this?
I'm considering asking one of my docs for a referral to a counselor. I'm trying to "keep it all together" when I meet with them (my surgeon & onc) - I know that they are doing what they need to do to physically fight this cancer that I'm dealing with - and I NEED to have them to do that. But it would be nice, I think, to…

Tell me about "boosts" with radiation, please
I've had 28 radiation treatments and today I start 7 final treatments of "boosts." All I know is that they specifically target the tumor areas. My IDC was in the lower outer quadrant of my breast and I had 10+ lymph nodes. Right now the machine moves around and hits me in about 8 different places. I am pink, but not bad.…

I must have been hit by a bus while I slept last night...
Wow did I wake up in some pain this morning! It's 15 days since my bilateral mastectomy, and 4 days since port surgery, and 2 days since my fill on my expanders. Don't know if I did too much yesterday or what but MAAAAN did I wake up hurting today! Chest sore & bruised feeling, armpits felt like I was dragged by them for…

Wonderful news from lumpectomy!
I had my lumpectomy yesterday, and the news in as good as it could possibly be. (well, other than if God had done a miracle and the tumor would have been gone altogether.) :D My lymph nodes were clear, meaning the cancer has not spread. My chest xray & CT were both clear as well. My dear surgeon came into the recovery room…

If you do not feel right about something, read this
I have been reading posts that you are unsure of what to do if you find a lump, or if you have a pain or ache, or if you are very tired, sick. The first thing you need to do is tell your doctor immediately! He needs to run tests, the right tests. I tend to google alot. I do not want to scare anyone or cause paronia, but if…

Twitching
Have you ever had a muscle twitch? Have you ever had an eye twitch? Well, don't laugh but I have a boob twitch. It started about 24 hours ago and now the muscles are sooooo verrry sore. Any ideas on how to get it to stop. The PS will give me muscle relaxers if it doesn't stop by lunch Friday. Really don't want any more…

Another day in the chemo bay
Today was my second cycle of Taxol. I will get it every week for 12 weeks then FEC every 3 weeks for 12 weeks. Last time I had very little nausea about 48 hours after administration. They give me ALOXI before chemo and compazine for breakthrough nausea. The compazine worked great. I am also so glad to have a port...still…

One year Ago tomorrow I had my Lumpectomy
I can't believe a year has gone by. It was so frightening to get that dreaded diagnosis. I consider myself lucky that I'm doing pretty good today. I got a good report from my oncology surgeon last week. I hope all you gals are doing well. Have to say, the best thing about this cancer was meeting so many wonderful online…

Lump in the armpit
I recently felt a lump in my left armpit, the same side that my bc was on. At first I thought it was nothing but now am worried. I will see my Dr. on Aug. 10th and of course ask him, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I feel it better when I raise my arm and it does move freely. Any thoughts.…

Fingernails and toenails
I know this is a minor issue compared to most of the topics being discussed here, but I was wondering what your experiences were if you lost any of your fingernails or toenails, and what they looked like before that happened. I've lost one toenail after noticing a smallish dark spot under the nail. I have a few other…

side effects of dexamethasone (decadron)
Not to scare anyone but rather to just to inform here are some of the side affects of decadron or dexamethasone, the steroid that many of us take during chemo. I was curious to know what side affects could be attributed to chemo and what could be attributed to the steroids. I had this unusual hair growth, very fine, soft,…

I am so confused!
I am almost six weeks out from mastectomy surgery and I am still trying to decide treatment. 1st opinion said I could do chemo for 2% better odds or not do it. 2nd opinion said definitely chemo. 3rd opinion said no to chemo. Size of single focus invasion is 4mm. Stage 1 T1a. Extensive DCIS. No lymph node involvement or…

Need Your Inputs
I haven't been on for quite a while until yesterday. I have been treated for triple negative bc. I have had the ac (one treatment because my body could not take this type chemo) and seven Taxel treatments. Neither shrunk my tumor at all. I decided to go ahead an get the tumor out so came the radical mastectomy last week.…
