"Things" do work the way they are supposed to.
Not going into details at this time - but starting tomorrow I will be able to give a little something to someone in need. Cancer related - not BC related though. I am so 'glad' ('glad' isn't the right word - no one should ever be 'glad' that someoine else is dealing with the 'Monster' but I can't think of a better word…

I need your help -- new cancerous node or scar tissue under incision to remove cancerous axillary no
I had surgery to remove an positive axillary node (second recurrence of ovarian cancer since 2007). Prior to surgery I had a PET scan which indicated that this node is the only posiive node. The surgery was on July 17th, 2007. A couple of weeks after surgery I noticed a "formation" that had the form of a thick coin,…

curious...port in knocked out...port out local?
Just curious.... to have the port inserted we go to hospital, have anastesia, and spend hours in recovery. Then to remove it...it is done in doctor's office under a local??? What's up with that? The thought of them cutting it open and removing while I am awake scares me more than facing chemo and rads. Why such a big deal…

Blurred Vision-Side effect of Chemo
I noticed over the past few weeks that my vision has blurred ever so slightly. Today I had my 11th chemo treatment, and my vision is blurred more noticeable. I can still see well enough to get around but was wondering if anyone else has had this as a side effect of chemo. I also have diabetes and I'm taking steroids with…

So someone asked about skipping chemo, well can we skip rads?
Still don't know what choice to make as I sit here. Can I do a mastectomy and not do any radiation? I'm doing chemo now and I'd be willing to do even more but I hate the thought of doing radiation, the radiation doctor did say it would affect about 20% of my lung.

Port surgery date to change
I spoke with my oncologist today and when I told him I was scheduled to have the port placement on Friday but my 1st chemo is August 10th he told me he would have it changed to a couple of days before the chemo. He doesn't want the port sitting in my chest being unused. I'm an infection risk. So, tomorrow I should have a…

Did you wear your wig for Rad treatments?
Hey ladies. I start radiation Aug 9 and I'm wondering if any of you wore your wig during your radiation treatments. The lady at the wig shop advised me not to. She said she'd had customers who'd had there wigs damaged be radiation treatments. I asked the nurse yesterday at rads while I was getting marked and she said it…

This is Off Topic but health related...
I have asthma so I don't know if it's connected to my asthma or not but every time I eat or drink anything, I always have to clear my throat or cough for a good hour before it clears up, every time, even having some water can cause this. It seems like my saliva gets real thick, gross I know but does this happen to any of…

Tamoxifen and Leg Cramps~ what have you done about it???? OUCH!!!!
I have been taking Tamoxifen for my recurrance for about 5 weeks now...and OMG~ the charlies horses I get in either leg in the middle of the night is absolutely affecting my quality of life! I mentioned it to my oncologist who sorta poo-poo'd it as odd and shrugged it off. No mention that it is a side-effect or what if…

What gives you strength?
Please share what it is that helps you get through this awful diagnosis, treatments, etc. For me it is gardening. When I get stressed, I piddle in my garden. Also, music helps a lot. My ringtone is from a beautiful Jimmy Cliff (reggae singer) song, "Sitting in Limbo." They may sound like a downer to some but I love the…

I really need your help
Hey Guys! I haven't been on here in a long time. I needed a break! I had a masectomy and chemo last year. I thought I was done with all that. I had a mammogram last Thursday again on the other breast. They called this morning and they have found another lump in that breast. Have to go Friday to have ultrasound and more…

Should be a happy day, but I'm too upset to enjoy it.
Today is my last of 30 rad treatments and I was jumping for joy. Unfortunately my EOB's finally started showing up and I called the insurance company to find out why they were charging me so much for co-pays. Apparently I have to pay a $25 co-pay for each treatment. I was only expecting to pay that when I saw the doctor…

Are you happy with your breast 's appearance after the lumpectomy?
Here I am still uncertain of what to do, I met the radiation doctor today, he says I'll do fine if I have the lumpectomy, but what he isn't realizing is I have Invasive Lobular Carcinoma, and it has a tendencey to show up in the opposite breast. I don't want to ever do this again. I have DD boobs so I can easily afford to…

update...cycle 6 done, 2 more to go
Yesterday I had the Taxotera, Adriamycin, Cytoxan #6 infusion...full strength.....Onc was surprised that I did not revolt after the 5th. He said the majority of people cannot tolerate this full strength, agressive mix. My 5th cycle had more intense s.e., but was bearable. I am hoping that #6 won't be too much worse....I…

Zometa ,one dose. Help prevent bone mets question.
Has anyone heard this? I had a one time dose. Don't know what mg, but was in a 500ml of normal saline. Onc said it had showed some promise of prevention of bone mets down the road. Mmmmm. It must have been a lg dose. Two days later, in the middle of the night of course. Had some of the worse bone and muscle pain that I've…

Finished radiation early, sweeeettttt !!!
When I first started radiation I originally had 6.5 weeks 33-35 treatments. I went 4 weeks had to stop for 2 weeks due to being seriously burned. I would have finished on 7-21 now because of delay wouldn't finish until 8-10. I wanted to be done by my birthday 7-29. I had my heart set on it. I was so down, started my…

And now for some good news!
Good evening, one and all! I got a phone call from my oncologist today. He had ordered another test on my tumor, just to verify that I was, in fact, HER2 positive. The results came back negative!! The first results were obtained from the needle biopsy and a “stain” test. The second test, a “fish” was done with a slide from…

Seroma
My doctor aspirated my seroma today but the fluid is already returning. Does anyone know what can help prevent seromas? I've been feeling so good since my surgery three weeks ago and have been doing too much. My doctor said I should take it easy for another week. Will that help keep the fluid from increasing? Miriam

Rheumatologist
Rheumatologist called to let me know I had an elevated liver function on my last blood work. My Vit D also went from 60 down to 40. As if bc wasn't bad enough. I'm having her fax the report to oncologist because I read that my chemo can affect body organs like the liver. I'm hoping I don't need to worry. Char
