Had my first Chemo on the next Wed. (things are moving very fast). I start my new job (State position) tomorrow (Monday) and would welcome any…

can't seem to color hair
Okay, okay, I know I am obsessed about my hair! Two things upset me now: it is very thin and baby fine. But the worst is that it doesn't seem to take color well: I have just used Loving Care semi-permanent dye, but even when I use the darkest, black shade it still comes out gray! Has anyone else experienced this, or do you…

When is safe to color the hair?
My hair is growing back slowly but strong. I colored it for so many years, that I'm really not sure if all the white hair I have now is new, after the chemo, or if it was that way before I lost it. I'm still using the wig, when going out, but I think in a couple of weeks I will decide to go out without it. Does anyone know…

how to know if recur after bilateral
Okay, I am now settling into my post-treatment life. My hair is growing back (although still very fine and short) and I feel good. I am even starting to get back to my old activities, book clubs and such. I had bilateral mastectomies and am BRCA 1, so now my worry is: how would they know if it comes back? I have asked…

Brushing Teeth; Heart Burn
My mother always seems to get sick when it comes time to brush her teeth. Does anyone else going through chemo have this problem? She uses a soft tooth brush but we were wondering if anyone could suggest a good tooth paste. Maybe something with very little taste. Also, she is having horrible heartburn and she never had…

Not completely balanced...yet
We all try to be positive on this board. And that is a really good thing - I believe in positive energy. But, sometimes, it might seem that everyone else is coping so well while at home, we still have some troubles. So I am going to write about my experience this morning. I went for my one year post dx mammogram, walk in,…

Not liking this...
I had my first Abraxane infusion three days ago. The onc warned me that I could have some aching, which may or may not be rather severe. Well, I am not aching, but rather, I have shooting pain everywhere from my shoulders to my toes. It's constant. The only time I don't hurt is if I manage to fall asleep for awhile.…

I just wanted to say that I missed all of you guys. Though my vacation was like being in paradise and we couldn't have asked for better weather, great food and drinks, I actually MISSED my kids. LOL. There was absolute quiet. Actually too quiet. Now, that I'm home I could've been gone another week. I kind of forgot how 2…

Do I HAVE to have a Mammogram?
My oncologist has deigned to see me again in 4 months. His nurse gave me a form to get a mammogram done "sometime before that appointment". The last one I had was in October last year and showed absolutely nothing wrong, even though I had a lump the size of a golf ball that was visible to the eye. Ultrasound showed it. But…

A small problem - Arimidex?
I've been on Arimidex for about 6 months. In the past week, I've begun to notice pain in all of those joints where I have had surgery or injury- i.e. shoulders, cervical spine, lumbar spine, wrists. The discomfort is worse at night and prevents me from falling asleep and staying asleep. I know I've read about bone and…

A Blast From the Past
FYI~ I spoke with Dana a few weeks ago, and mentioned how disconcerting it is to have posts from 2003-20003, etc pop up and have us respond to them as if they are new postings. She said that because all of our original posts exist ( prior to the CSN "face-lift") that if anyone scrolls and finds a topic they are interested…

Just wanted to let all of you know that today I am very happy: although I have been complaining to this board that my hair is growing in thinly and slowly, my husband (who never gives compliments unless he means them) said that my hair is actually stylish and doesn't look mannish the way I thought.
