Post Treatment Regimen
I am working with a clinic combining Western and Eastern Medicines. They have recommended to me a regimen for the next two years to support the non-recurrance strategy. Basically support my body to make sure that the cancer has little chance of returning. I have not seen any posts about this type of protocol and wanted to…

new here
Well hi ya'll. I am new here-been reading some of your posts and it is good and bad to know there are others out there like me. I was diagnosed in mid-July after a routine colonoscopy-I had blown off symptoms as hemorrhoid related (maybe there should be a t-shirt "But I thought it was just hemorrhoids...."). I am T2n0m0,…

Shame...anyone else feel this way?
Dear Friends ... I never knew I had HPV until I was diagnosed with cancer. I feel shameful and am having a hard time dealing with my shame and sense of "causing" this in someway. My husband (second husband) loves me unconditionally, however I'm having a hard time with accepting myself right now. Can you share your feelings…

Curiosity question
Did you lose your pubic hair with radiation, and if so, did it come back? Just curious ... certainly not a big issue. Ooops ... I found this info in another discussion item in March ... however, would still like to hear your experience.

Constipation????????
I know just started treatment Chemo and Radiation this week only 4 days in, and I'm so constipated. Eating well, no nausea, lots of gas, and burping. Taking colace in small doses for two days, along with prunes. Lots of water and fluids. Sat in a bath of Epsons salts someone suggested. Didn't work. I don't know if I should…

CEA levels
I am 11 years out from having anal cancer and every 6 months when I get my tumor markers checked my CEA has always been up and down, but above the normal.... it goes from 3.3 to 4.3 to 5.2 and down to 4.2, now it's 5.7. Pet scan clear last year... just went for CT. Does anyone else have fluctuating CEA levels?

Tattooed and Ported
Hi = just posting to complain I got my port today and feel like I got shot in the shoulder. I was very irritable last night. Tried hard to be upbeat but I just confessed to everyone around me, especially my dear husband, "please forgive me as I know I am irritable." So I guess I am still a little irritable and tired. Also,…

Frustrated with a friend...
She was diagnosed with Stage I anal cancer a year ago. Instead of having the tumor removed and starting the Nigro protocol, she traveled to Germany and then to a clinic in Mexico for alternative treatments. Two weeks ago, she was told the cancer had returned and metastized to her peritoneum and a couple of lymph nodes. Now…

3 days in hospital
Hi - I finally escaped from being in the hospital three days. It started with just my counts being low and getting a transfusion, but my blood pressure dropped really low and I got fluid around my heart and lungs and had to be admitted. This is where everything went really bad for me. They had to handle the meds of course…

Follow-up testing
I'm curious about what kind of follow-up studies your oncologists and colo-rectal surgeons are doing for you after treatment is done? Do get a DRE, EUS, PET CT, CT only, PET only? And how often? Also, my oncologist requests a PET CT every three months for the first year ... I fear my insurance won't cover this. What are…

How do I tell my husband?
My husband lost his father in the mid 90's after a hard battle with cancer. He lost his mother about 3 years ago after a long and painful battle with cancer, this time he was the one who took care of her, by himself, we were not together yet. He also lost his brother when he was 14 (his brother was older). I was told…

Platelets
Platelets dropped 40 points again. How weird is that? 8.3 now. They are supposed to be at 100. 8 is when they give you a platelet transfusion. Tomorrow they won't give me radiation until after I have had a blood test. Hopefully this is nadir or whatever you call it and I will have finally pulled out. No chemo-therapy this…

My brain after chemo - and returning to work
'Your Brain After Chemo' by Dan Silverman, MD, PhD is a God-send. The worst side effect of all of this for me has been brain fog aka 'chemo brain' that my doctors and family don't give much credit to. But I know that it has been very, very real for me and the primary reason that I haven't returned to work. I don't feel…

Not feeling too well
Hi everyone, Tomorrow I'll be at the half way mark. The doctor called me at home tonight and said my blood work is not looking so good this week. She took me off of Vicodin for just plain old oxicotone (I'm to lazy to look up how you spell these drug names). She doubled the morphine this week. Last week, from that shot my…

Worried about my treatment, or should I say lack of it.
I had an operation to remove Hemorrhoids, in May 2009, shortly after I was told one of my Hemorrhoids was a Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Situ, which was high grade. I was then referred to a professor at a university hospital (I am in the UK). He told me that it had been removed intact and it would be unlikely to return, he…

insomnia
Hey y'all, I know I've broached this subject before...but how do you live with the insomnia? I started taking my bp pills at night for a couple weeks, but I would then sleep til 12:30 or so. Glutamine to help with both diarrhea & healing wounds
I wanted to find out if anyone knows anything about L-Glutamine powder. The dietician at the radiologist's office gave me this to take starting right away, before treatment begins. They explained that L-glutamine is an amino acid that fuels the cells of the digestive tract, as well as the immune system. Our body naturally…
