in Anal Cancer #1
Well hi ya'll. I am new here-been reading some of your posts and it is good and bad to know there are others out there like me. I was diagnosed in mid-July after a routine colonoscopy-I had blown off symptoms as hemorrhoid related (maybe there should be a t-shirt "But I thought it was just hemorrhoids...."). I am T2n0m0, so I guess I am pretty lucky. Just finished my second week of radiation and had the first round of chemo. That was a real joy. My goal is to laugh my way through this and kick cancer's ****! I hope and pray that all of you do the same! Thanks for being there-Tracy

    I'm sorry you have a reason to be here like the rest of us, but I'm glad you found the site for support and information. It sounds like you are well on your way to the finish line with 2 weeks past already--that's great. Humor got me through my treatment as well. I listened to nothing negative during that time (which meant I almost always turned off the news!) and watched a lot of sit-coms. Laughter is good medicine at a time like this, so keep that sense of humor, determination and will to beat this! You'll do just fine. I wish you all the best!

    Hello, Sorry you had to find us. I put off going to the dr for about 4 months, because I was treating my so called hemroid. Well if I have learned anything it is to go to the dr when you know something is not right, and I've told my family and friends the same thing. It certainly doesn't get better. I wish you a speedy completion to your treatment. I was a T2NOMO also, and completed tx 6-30-09 and so far so good, as I feel better than I have in a long time. I wish you well. Lori

    I was diagnosed in mid May of this year T2N0M0 and just completed treatment on July 26. I started feeling pain around the end of week three. I had about 10 sessions of regular radiation, then the next 20 were IMRT which helps to minimize the side effects. I agree with the others that you should keep distracted and laugh. Don't watch or read anything sad. It is just counter productive. My most difficult time was the week post treatment. I had not cried till then. Even though I hurt and moved slowly during treatment, I was actively doing something to get well. But when I got home and was just waiting to get well, that was very, very hard. My sweet husband took me to Florida to give me a change of scenery and inspire me to get moving, have things to look forward to etc. It did me a world of good. I have learned alot of tricks to help handle various side effects and will be happy to share when you need information. I will say that I still have tenderness and some discomfort, but my skin has healed and I am getting around much better. You will get through this!

    Funny you put it that way. My surgeon who found my tumor told me that my ability to laugh is probably what helped me the most while I was undergoing tx. I also distinctly remember telling anyone who would listen that I planned to kick cancers **** . I too have only been here for a short while although, my partner found it way before she showed it to me. She did not want me to have enough info to scare me during tx. It is great to have people that know exactly what you are saying and have answers for the non ending questions that arise post treatment.

    I'M New here too!
    I just found out i have Anal cancer had a colon screening done like always every 3 years my sister lost her battle with colon cancer 5 years ago all the other polyps they found were pre cancer but the one that is cancer is 3 cm so now i have to go for stageing and have other test done but the good news is it was found early i'm not worried about beating it because i know i will the hard part is the money i know its going to be more meds which i feel i dont need anymore than i am on now LOL! i just hope it's not going to be to bad thanks for reading this hope to make lots of friends here to many more Brithdays!

    Welcome and sorry you had to find us. The first thing my general surgeon told me is this is a curable cancer, and if I had to have one this is a good one to get. Keep us posted, and I wish you well. Lori

    Tomorrow is my last day of radiation. Last day of chemo was Friday. This is the most difficult week I've had yet.

    You are exactly 3 weeks behind me in treatment. My first week with no treatment was my hardest. Stay away from anything remotely sentimental, sad etc - like the plague!! Laughter is great medicine!

    I am feeling much, much better now. Not normal, but my energy level is coming back up, tenderness going down. Hang in there!! We gotta stick together through this thing!!
