This post started out as walking, but we are an open minded bunch and now we have many exercise types listed in the title. Just move if you can.

We also have the unique 100,000km 30 year clinical trial being run here. will anyone make this target, dare is say even earlier than 30 years. It would be just so amazing. Obviously we will all have to live that long to get an invite to the party.

In Sydney Australia, sylvania to sutherland. Bottle and all.
This is the walking post. I am walking to the naturopath right now.
I feel fine, with energy just bad diarrhea. Its good having a bag, I don't have to find a tree anymore. haha

If you have some energy and are well come for a walk with me today. A walk around the world if you will for 10 minutes to 5 hours whatever you can manage. going to do this everyday.

I used to hear " an apple a day keeps the doctor away "

Now I say to myself " a walk a day keeps the monster away"

search on exercise colorectal and recurrance, for details.

come on couch potatoes up and addem and move.

love to all,

Pete

ps I am out the door right now.

http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/prevention/physicalactivity
1. What is the relationship between physical activity and colon cancer risk?
Colorectal cancer has been one of the most extensively studied cancers in relation to physical activity, with more than 50 studies examining this association. Many studies in the United States and around the world have consistently found that adults who increase their physical activity, either in intensity, duration, or frequency, can reduce their risk of developing colon cancer by 30 to 40 percent relative to those who are sedentary regardless of body mass index (BMI), with the greatest risk reduction seen among those who are most active (3–7). The magnitude of the protective effect appears greatest with high-intensity activity, although the optimal levels and duration of exercise are still difficult to determine due to differences between studies, making comparisons difficult. It is estimated that 30 to 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day is needed to protect against colon cancer (6, 7). It is not yet clear at this time whether physical activity has a protective effect for rectal cancer, adenomas, or polyp recurrence (3).
Physical activity most likely influences the development of colon cancer in multiple ways. Physical activity may protect against colon cancer and tumor development through its role in energy balance, hormone metabolism, insulin regulation, and by decreasing the time the colon is exposed to potential carcinogens. Physical activity has also been found to alter a number of inflammatory and immune factors, some of which may influence colon cancer risk.

Ok, you have motivated me today....was thinking about skipping exercising but then I read your posts :) I have been hitting the gym for cardio and weight, and mat pilates, but today on my day 'off' I will now go to the beach and take a long walk along the cliffs. It is beautiful.
I will be one more of your walkers :)

dear tommycat,
post away, it keeps me walking, pepe is amazing, you would never know he has cancer.
i wonder what people would think seeing us healthy looking walkers if they only knew our stories, if they knew why we are walking.
its just wonderful to have some company on the walks.
the weights and gym sounds healthy as well.
anyway welcome aboard.
Your friend in sydney.
had a few days off from exercise being in transit and then sorting out the house and the kids after 10 days away. the sink had a stack of plates, pots and pans that was my own personal mount everest.

including a tourney, in which our team won first place! Lots of good curling and heavy sweeping. You have to sweep the ice hard to get the stones to go where you want them to - worked up quite a sweat!

Each game is 2 hours of running up and down the ice, throwing stones and sweeping frenetically!

so many studies, just take your pick but for stage 3 in particular it indicates 53% improvement in survival. not my up and walking almost everyday.

5 miles is a good walk. if its that good for stage3 i hope its helpful for stage4, ask pepe , i am the stage 3 guy here. i'll see if pepe has any comments.

i hope it buys you another 4 decades at least, just watch out while walking, it would be tragic to beat the cancer and get run over by a bus or mugged.

pete

Didn't get to the Pilates class today due to celebrating Halloween a wee bit too much, but did take a 45 minute walk down to the coast then back up the hills. Something is better than nothing.

was the only guy with about 30 girls.
they all made my attempts look humourous. i tired, it was fun, very demanding physically, i sweated.
felt great at the end of it.
many specific stretches are for our colon and butt areas. a few funny noises occurred during the class.

today met a vegan personal trainer at the health seminar i was helping sell books at.
he advised caution about stress hormones being released by aerobic exercise that goes longer than 20 minutes.
need to get this out.

yoga is great

Doing the almost daily 5 mile walk with a friend. We like to solve the world's problems while were at it. Try to get the heart rate up, but not the blood pressure. Ha.

Hello,
For some reason I have been a bit lax in the exercise department over the last month or so . . . . but my latest CT scan really woke me up!!! Back to exercise everyday. Sunday I worked in the yard for 1.5 hours and then spent an hour on the treadmill. Monday started with an hour of yoga and then an hour on the treadmill in the afternoon. Tuesday I was on the treadmill for an hour. It looks like a beautiful day today, so I will walk the 4km through the neighbourhood and then spend an hour or two doing yard work - gotta get those leaves cleaned up before the snow arrives!
I know stats on exercise are for stages 1 - 3, but I do belive exercise also benefits those of us who are stage 4!!!
