Disappointed
In this web site, I don't understand what happened, I noticed what once used to be a very supportive site, with a lot of traffic has dwindled down to a scase few. This was the first support cancer forum I joined when I was dx. back in 09, posted quite a few posts here, only to recieve one or two responses, and sometimes…

The point is we are not sure if…

2 more surgeries post lobectomy
My Mom is in surgery right now (9/21/13). She had her lower left lung removed with stage 1 cancer on 9/9/13. Stage 1, that's the good news. But now things are going down hill and I have no one to turn to for answers. So, then there was too much fluid in lungs so they did a bronchoscopy to clear that. Now the drainage in…

doctor visits
When should you see your oncologist? My family doctor isn't familiar with and can't advise on lung cancer or any related symptoms to it because as he said, he's just a general practitioner. My oncologist has insisted I report to my f.p. rather than to her, any new symptoms. I went to oncologist this week because I've been…

If PET Scan Is Poor, Can Dr. Stop Tarceva
Hello, My mother has been taking Tarceva for over 2 months. She is afraid of having another PET Scan cause she thinks that if the cancer has spread, the oncologist will refuse to prescribe any more Tarceva. Is that a valid concern? Your thoughts and feedback is highly appreciated. Thank you! Tom

How Do You Know Tarceva Is Working
Hello, I wanted to ask for your kind help. My mother is 88 years old and has Stage 4 esophageal cancer. She had chemo for about 2 ½ years, but she had to stop chemo since it damaged her heart. Without chemo, her oncologist said she only has around 6 months to live and wanted to put her in hospice. Upon our request, the…

A year after treatment and still nauseated
I completed my 6-week crash treatment of 37 radiation treatments and 6 chemo treatments a year ago the end of August 2012. So far nothing new is growing, Thank God. My only problem seems to be that nearly every morning, afater I've been awake or up for 20 minutes or so, I get very nauseated. I rarely vomit or have dry…

Treatment Unsuccessful
The latest CAT Scan indicated that the chemo did not slow or reverse the spread of the cancer. Therefore, the chemo has been discontinued and the cancer is left to run its course. I should expect "months" to live rather than "years". For a short time, I will feel better as the side effects of the chemo wear off. There is a…

worried about husband
My husband has had a lingering cough literally for several months. After witnessing 3 different people close to us pass away from lung cancer, two within months of each other, I have pleaded with him to have a CT scan. All three of the people we lost complained about the same thing, a cough that would not go away. My…

Well, well, well...
It was suggested to me that I check out CancerGrace.org to learn about my diagnosis of NSCLC Stage III so I did. After reading one of Dr. West's posts on lymph node involvement, it was clear that when mediastinal lymph nodes appear normal but during surgery test positive for microscopic cancer cells, a 5-year survival is…

Am I over reacting?
I am 55yrs. old and have been having numerous health issues over the past year. After numerous UTIs, my primary doctor ordered a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis area. The CT scan showed a 3mm lung nodule in my lower left lobe that was believed to be partially calcified. I was referred to a pulmonologist who I first saw…
