Monday the 17th surgery
I saw the BS today and he repeated that he will try a lumpectomy, but although the lumps have shrunk, there were 3 and he had to get clear margins...which makes for quite a deformed leftover breast. He said I am on the borderline mastectomy. So, he is going to try and we will find out 4-5 days after if it was successful or…

A bucket list....
I don't know if I should ask this question...but I will anyway... Do you have a bucket list ??? One of the things on mine was... Drive a red Mercedes sports car...must be an early 1960s model, red with white interior, and of course have the top down. :-) I'd want it for half a day so I could drive up along our local coast.…

Help - SOOOO SCARED!
I was initially diagnosed with DCIS on 1st June 2012, and told I needed a mastectomy with an immediate strattice reconstruction. My diagnosis was made after I found a lump on my left breast and I had a core biopsy, but the lump I found was not biopsied or scanned. My Doctor said that the lump was most likely DCIS too, and…

I've missed y'all!!
Hi wonderful ladies!! I haven't posted in a while, but life has been a bit challenging lately. As y'all know, my vertebrae was fractured when I was t-boned by a semi truck that ran a red light back in May. Well, overtime my vertebrae has collapsed. It is over 50 percent collapsed and unfortunately is pinching my nerves, so…

Does anyone have as much trouble sleeping as I do?
I've always had trouble sleeping. I started taking Lunesta on and off several years back. Since Cancer, I take it every night. It's not something you can take once in a while. I don't like Ambien. Restoril works if I take 2, but it's depressive. I take Nighty Night tea if I'm too wound up. Before it was trouble getting to…

Mets to spine and rib
I saw my oncologist Tuesday to go over the results of the PET scan. My day actually started with a very urgent sounding lady from the lab insisting I get a hold of my provider immediately. Evidently she didn't realize this was blood work ordered by my oncologist as it seems my tumor markers were way elevated. (7.…

hair loss and comment "it will grow back" really annoying me
Struggling with the hair loss right now; it;s almost gone and I wore my wig to work yesterday. Will be wearing pretty much from now on, at least at work as I have a lot of bald spots. Got a lot of positive comments on how good I look ! One thing that has been annoying me, though, is when I talk about my hair loss, people…

Problems with Foods
I'm having a problem eating. I cannot tolerate tomatoes and tomato base foods, cheese, sausages, hot dogs, hamburger, steaks, chicken, breads, and every day it seems to change. Imaging after mastectomy
I had my annual mammo and ultrasound on the "other" breast. (No cancer. Yeah!) I thought I was going to have an ultrasound on the cancer side. They said there was no order for that and they don't usually do an ultrasound after a mastectomy. Is there any imaging usually done after a mastectomy? Isn't there a chance you…

7th chemo tomorrow, and you know how I am...
a beast! I am an irritable beast! I am going to ask the Oncologist about continuing. This is do-able right? like surgery without anesthesia or maybe root canal in a back alley? This has been the worst one yet and today I feel like I did after the Neulasta shot and I didn't get one this last time. And its been 3 weeks since…

Can you get a call through to YOUR doctor?
I sometimes can't even get through to leave a message for my Oncologist. I go to the best there is in Cleveland Ohio, and when I call sometimes it keeps going back to the recording that they care about my call and stay on the line but after about 15 minutes it says to try later. And when I do get through and leave a message…

Advice questions about Hypersensitivity
I had a bilat on 2/16/2011. After a revision surgery on July 10th of this year I have noticed improvement - HOWEVER - I still have a great deal of hypersensitivity on my chest wall above the scar line. I do have some hypo-sensitivity and in one area displaced sensitivity as well (oh, yeah - this is all at the same time and…

Saline vs silicone
I had my exchange surgery 3 weeks ago. I am not thrilled with the results. I have 800 cc high profile Mentors. I am 5"9 and large framed. I am a little over weight at the moment. I haven't weighed myself since my bilateral mastectomy, but I have gained a few pounds since this all started. To say the least. I will lose it.…
