My husband died tonight

It happened so fast....I knew he was going downhill but I figured it would be a long drawn out process. I'm not sure what happened. I brought a load of laundry up to the bedroom and he wasn't in his bed. I figured he was in the bathroom and i could hear a gurgling noise. but I hear that all the time when he is trying to get that mucous out of his throat. Then it occurred to me that he wasn't standing in front of the sink like he normally is....and the noise sounded different...almost a constant gurgle. I went into the bathroom to see what was going on. he was standing there covered in blood...it was all over the floor. I asked what was going on and took hold of his arm....he fell to his nknees and collapsed on the floor with blood just spewing out of his stoma. I called 911 and was screaming. My 19 year old daughter heard and came running in. She was trying to hold him. we were both crying and screaming. The 911 operator kept asking if he was breathing. I told them that I didn't know because he was a neck breather and blood was spewing from his stoma. It seemed like an eternity for them to get here. When they did, they made me leave the room. After a while they put him in the ambulance and took him to ER. Our pastor had come to the house by then and he went with me to hospital. My youngest boy was crying, the middle boy was saying nothing. At the hospital they made me wait out front while the medic went back to check. then he came out and said he would take us back there. When they took me to the "consultation" room I knew that it was over. His heart had stopped when they arrived at the house and they could not get it started again. They think an artery probably ruptured....he lost so much blood.
I am in a daze and don't know what to do.

I am sorry to hear the sad news.
I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you and your family. I know exactly how overwhelmed you feel. I have been there. My husband passed away Aug. 29th. He was a neck breather too and we had an episode of a rupture too, a few days before he died. It's all too shocking and you are numb with grief. All I can say is my heart goes out to you. I hope you have family and friends to comfort you. Please take care.

    Grieving for you
I'm so sorry. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My husband had an artery rupture just a couple weeks ago. He was still in the hospital and it was just a few days after the robotic surgery in his throat. He survived, but really nearly didn't. There was gurgling and blood, just as in your husband's situation. He was rushed into surgery just in time.

    I hate cancer. Hate it!

Please know that people are praying for you today. You are not alone.

I am pretty speechless. It's one thing to lose a loved one, but to lose him in such a traumatic way is just heart breaking. I am praying for you and your children. Please remember him in the good times and let those wonderful memories you shared together play in the forefront of your minds and know that he is in a place where he is whole and will suffer no longer.

Peace be with you at this very difficult time,

    Dawn

I know the words "I'm sorry for your loss" doesn't help at all to relieve the pain you and your family are experiencing at this moment. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers, for as much comfort as that may bring.

    Dear Debbie.....
I am so sorry to hear of your husband's death and the trauma that the family had to endure....cancer is the ugliest word in the English language. Please know that you are being lifted in prayer and support by so many. There seems to be so much to deal with after a death, and the circumstances surrounding your husband's death just seems to compound it. I can tell you from the terrible experience of losing my youngest son last year in a tragic circumstance, take one minute at a time. Breathe when it feels like you can't. Be strong for your family, but that also means grieving together.....not in isolation. Talk openly and often about your husband and their father, even when it seems that others are uncomfortable mentioning his name in your presence. It's ok to be angry, to question, to rant. Know that he will never leave your hearts and remember that he was well-loved, as are you all.
May God grant you all peace in your hearts and lives...
