As my friend Cat has written, there's always something happening in California. Hearing about the coming winter storm, I wanted to wish you and your families--and property--a safe and warm week.

    Second day of pouring rain
    Moopy,
Thank you for thinking of us. In Los Angeles we are having heavy rain. Just came home from dentist and have a question about Zometa or Boniva. When I asked my dentist if I need any dental work to done before starting these drugs, she was confused and said that as long as I do not have cavities, I am fine.
    Any thoughts?
Moopy, I like you smile. Can you take glasses off?
    Hugs

Glad you are home and dry, out of the pouring rain, New Flower. Thank you for posting. The mudslides were close last year to Cat's mom and her house, so I always think of you all when I see the CA news reports. The national news is always so general it is hard to know who may be affected.

I did not take Zometa, but my dentist told me the same thing yours did, when I asked about the possibility of taking Zometa. I was thinking about replacing some veneers, and he explained that would not be an issue, but cavities would. You should hear from others on Zometa or other bonebuilding drugs; you may even want to start a new thread. Anyway, you should get more knowledgeable reports than mine. Ah, thank you for the compliment. I can take my glasses off, but apparently my eyes have aged over the last year!(Aging is good, no complaints!)

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday and new year.

Happy holiday season to you and Joe too
You are correct when it is raining in SC slides are big concerns. Hopefully Cat and other who lives by the mountains will respond.
Commute and driving are challenging too. We have to multiply everything.

Thanks Lisa! The weather is horrible...not just rain, but sheets of pouring rain which make the areas affected by previous wildfires that much more vulnerable. We are vigilant and prepared, though we hope we needn't prepare for anything except maybe dinner!

    Prep for Dinner
Thanks for posting, Chen. My CA geography/geology is very poor, and the national news anchors are so general with a small tendency toward the dramatic. You and Reggie and Siobhan could ride out anything, I know; so I'll just wish you an easy prep for dinner, and only holiday-related preps needed.

    so true right?
Havent been on CSN in so long, miss you all, but my 'puter time has been limited because Robert found facebook, hijacked my laptop and is playing poker on Sammy's FB page. We headed out to Vegas on Wedensday nite, hit fog and rain on the way out, and it rained most of the time there. Hit more rain on the way home today, so I couldn't escape it anywhere we went. Not too bad though.

Thanks for the warm/dry wishes Moopster, miss your posts here and on FB!

    Cat and Texas
Marcia, you Texans always have to be different, like..a whole other country. I will wish CA's rain to cease there and move your way. Just some, though. How about that?

Cat! I miss you, too. Thanks for letting me know you all are not in harm's way. I heard "winter storm in the LA area" and immediately thought of my CA sisters, your mom and last year's weather. Oh, and Sammy has an FB page? Eefy may be looking for her first ever cat-friend...

    Take care, my friend.

    We have had rain here.
We have had rain here. Mostly on and off and not too heavy but when I watch our local news I see that Alameda seems to be having it lighter than many areas here in the Bay Area. Back up in Suisun it is quite a bit steadier an heavier. It is supposed to lighten up some and then another big storm due in on Wednesday. I got out to the store without being rained on but shortly after I got home it started. Same happened on Thursday, we walked to JJ's school performance(which was so cute and he sings so well) and no sooner got home than the rain started. If I can keep dodging it, great but that's not likely. I see that Southern California has been getting a lot of rain. Hopefully there will be no major floods or landslides. Fingers crossed. I will see about packing an envelope of rain for the Texas gals. LOL Hope those that are having snow and extreme cold are doing okay. And Cat, good to hear from you.

    Rain? Really?
    I hadn't noticed (ROFL!)....

Thank you, dear Moopy, for the concern....I guess after my first winter driving on snow and ice in Holland, rain doesn't seem so bad...

The most so far for us was a BIG delay getting to a party today because a big rig jacknifed on the I-10, blocking all but one lane...and, of course, the cars driving by had to look to see if there were any injuries...sigh!!!

But we are fine here in Redlands, at least so far. Amsterdam, not so lucky....they cancelled many flights, and Schiphol ground crews brought in 1700 army cots for stranded travelers...Friday was the busiest day in the year...everyone leaving for 'wintersport' in Switzerland or Germany...(the dutch get 6 weeks vacation a year...even their first one...). Even the trains, usually running like clockwork, were slow from the snow!

    Hugs, Kathi

    It's Moopy~It's Moopy~ oh Yeah It's Moopy!
Hi Moopy thanks for thinking us here California. I am nearby Step (give or take an hour) here in Northern California and about ten minutes from a dam that often overflows when the Mokelumne river gets too high which it is close to doing. Last time this happened we were driving nearby and crawdads were crawling all over our streets because they were getting thrown into the sewers. It was odd to see that is for sure, everyone was slowing down trying to give them the right of way! :-) In our town the we have several parks that are used as water basins when the rains hit so as a precaution they were all locked down to avoid any child getting in there and getting hurt. Thanks again Moopy great to hear from you!

Knocking on wood here in the San Fernando Valley
So far this weekend, we've had steady rain here in the west San Fernando Valley, but not particularly heavy...some minor flooding of intersections and gutters, but I'm not seeing anything else more serious yet on any of the local news sites.

Me and Netflix are staying indoors today and making some warm, comforting potato-leek soup -- anyone want me to save you a bowl?

Thanks for thinking of us. It has been plenty wet here in Los Angeles.

It's a low key weekend for my family. We plan to have the family over for dinner and a trip to see the light displays here in town. Of course, we will stroll down the block with hot cocoa in hand to keep warm. A little water isn't going to stop us!

Happy Holidays to you and yours Moopy!

    Fingers Crossed Too
Hi, Steff, it seems like all of you California girls have had more than your share of weather "events" since I've been on the board, so the Golden State is due for some sunshine. JJ must be like his mom, then; I can't carry a tune myself. Hopefully "Singing in the Rain" will give way to "Walking on Sunshine."

Wishing y'all continued good weather, Kathi. Also hope you and Hans avoid weather issues when you head back to your Holland hometown. (forget when that is, but will look forward to your photos for 2011.)

I love the photo of you and the kids. I thought you were closer to the high rainfall area. Glad to hear about the parks used as water basins; we have an empty lot on the street. No crawdads, though. Maybe you need a Crawdad Crossing sign? (Didn't know CA girls call them crawdads; thought that was a Southernism.) Thanks for posting, RE. Glad to know you and your family are good.
