Thanksgiving has always been
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays a day when all the family would get together without bickering and actually got along up until 1998 when my oldest brother passed away at the age of 23 right on thanksgiving ruined it for me there is not one when we dont remember him it took a while for my mom to start cooking thanksgiving dinner again but she has grandkids now and its a must for them we still remember him but good memories and we are also creating new memories with the new members of the family this is my first thanksgiving as a cancer patient but will not let this ruin it for me i am just grateful to be here enjoying family and friends i hope yall have a good thanksgiving and dont forget to be thankful for everything tht the Lord has blessed yall with.

Ingredients
1/3 stick butter
1/2 cup diced onions ( I am using shallots~ I like their sweet flavor better)
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms ~white buttons are fine!
2 cups sliced Fresh green beans ( I was able to purchase bagged, fresh, already cut green beans in the produce section of my local market)
3 cups chicken broth ( one box of the low sodium chicken broth)
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup ( I don't know if you have a Trader Joes, but they have Portobello Mushroom Soup!) Campbell's Mushroom Soup is fine otherwise!
1 (2.8-ounce) can French-fried onion rings

1 cup grated Cheddar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Melt the butter in a large skillet. Saute the onions and mushrooms in the butter. Boil green beans in chicken broth for 10 minutes and drain. Add the green beans, mushroom soup,3/4 of the onion rings, s/p, to taste, to the onion mushroom mixture. Stir well. Pour into a greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes, then top the casserole with the Cheddar and remaining onion rings and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until the casserole is hot and cheese is melted.

We are traveling to Arizona day after tomorrow with our son and his gf: destination my brother in laws. He will be hosting much of the family, count to date is 18 staying with them. They are doing a pit bar-b-que where the turkey and other meats will be well seasoned and buried and allowed to cook overnight, should be primo by the next day. It's fun as they dig a huge pit and all the neighbors bring over what they want to bar-b-que and throughout the night they monitor it in shifts.

The day after Thanksgiving we will be have a WEDDING!!! My brother in-law is going to marry his long time girl friend so we will be partying for two days! It is a cowboy themed casual wedding everyone is wearing jeans and cowboy shirts, should be great fun!

My husband and I are just having a quiet thanksgiving at home no company. My mother lives on our property so I will take her over her dinner. And it will just be the two of us. So that means I get to eat and nap. Does it get any better then that. Oh Chen thanks for the green bean casserole recipe I will make that with our meal. Love to all Happy thanksgiving Kay

Mashed potatoes, gravy,au gratin potatoes,pea salad,sweet potatoe casserole, 2-3 jello salads, corn casserole,shells and cheese( for the little ones). Can you tell my family loves potatoes?? Except me, not a potatoe fan. I think I am forgetting something(chemo brain) glad I am not in charge of the turkey! God Bless

Walking around the corner to our daughter's home. Kyle's mom and step-dad are coming up so it will be dinner for seven. They are buying their Christmas tree and we will all help decorate it. I am bringing seafoam salad and deviled eggs. I have never made these before so wish me luck. I am not know for my culinary skills, but the love of family will overcome even my lack of cooking talent. LOL

I absolutely love deep fried turkey!
We had it at my husbands daughter in Texas about 10 yrs ago. We bought a fryer & Shipped it home. Have had every year since.

We are hosting Thanksgiving
We are hosting Thanksgiving at our home for a large crowd. LOL Lots of family are coming and even a few friends. We love to entertain and are really looking forward to it.

For the meal, we are having turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, cranberry salad, relishes and homemade rolls and pies. I always make pumpkin and pecan pie. I love pecan pie. Most of our guests will bring something too, so, it will be a feast!

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and say a prayer at their table for all of their blessings.

Too soon
I don't get my stage diagnosis till the 22nd so for the 19th-my birthday I decided not to acknowledge it and I can't even think about the hoilday till I know how long I have left.

try to enjoy and cherish
try to enjoy and cherish every moment, day, and holiday you can spend with loved ones and friends. I know it is difficult when we have to deal with cancer...but life has no guarantees and embrace the moment as best you can. Did I understand today is your birthday? Hugs to you and hope you find some enjoyment in the holiday with loved ones.

Going to Oregon!
With my hubby, brother, and sister-in-law. My parents are there, and we also have a vacation/retirement house up there as well.

We're driving up this time, which is a change for us since usually fly. There's supposed to be a lot of rain heading down the state of CA, so I'm hoping we don't get stuck in the snow in the mountain passes, but we do have 4WD truck and chains, so we're about as prepared as we can be for the weather.

Can't wait to get up there. I don't know exactly what will be on our menu, but I know it will include Turkey, Dressing (my mom's is the BEST!), cranberry sauce, and probably green beans (I might just try Chen's recipe - sounds yummy) and mashed 'taters. My hubby will probably insist that I make my apple pie, and we'll no doubt have pumpkin as well.

There will only be 6 of us, so that should be enough, don't you think??? If we're lucky, we'll have some leftover turkey for enchiladas.
