Jim-farewell
but also, how to depart from this earthly life.
Mike and Betsy were with me and, with tears of our sadness and some chuckles of laughter, we spent Jim's final hours telling him how much we love him and will miss
him and telling him and each other why we were so proud to be his family.
We truly thought he would walk out of the hospital, and so did he! Just one week ago, he was so proud that he had had quite a long walk for
his debilitated state. Hours later, a high fever set him back and he just couldn't overcome the pneumonia that followed. The cancer did not
show up on scans and there was no sign of the Staph infetion that had worried us. He came such a long way and fought such a good fight.
Jim REALLY disliked traditional funeral services, so in respect for his wishes, we are having a family time for private goodbyes. However,
you all know he loved a good party! He said he wouldn't mind if people got together and had a great time remembering all the fun he had!
So after Grandson, Jake, gets back to the States and is stationed at Fort Hood, we will have a celebration of Jim's life, probably in South
Texas somewhere.
Thank you all for your prayers, I believe they kept him going and I surely need them now.
Instead of flowers, please send contributions in Jim's name to the National Rifle Association or the Wounded Warrior Project.
With gratitude for over 53 wonderful years,
Hugs 2 U

Sally,
I'm so sorry for your
Sally,
I'm so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies go to you and your family at this time. I remember we connected several months ago about alternative medicine options for cancer patients. You may not know this, but I've always been inspired by you and your husband's determination and willingness to explore new treatment options and fight this disease with such hopefulness. You were a wonderful advocate for Jim and you were both a great team.
I am truly sorry. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Jim
So sad to hear the news. The love you have for Jim just poured through the words in your post.
You said Jim loved a good party. I hope he is celebrating at a big Husker party in Heaven, with all the fixings!
Go Big Red! I'll think of you and Jim today watching the game, Jim cheering from above.
God Bless,

so sorry
Sally,
It's weird to think of "Sally" and not "Sally & Jim".... I am so sorry you lost your partner of 53 years--but glad you both were there for each other. Jim had a wonderful caregiver! You have set an awesome example for the rest of us. Your calm, loving, patient demeanor must have been nice for Jim to be able to count on. Prayers for you & your family.

I know you had a long and enjoyable marriage with lots of memories

Best friends
Sally, for those of us who were lucky enough to have married our best friend, yours and Jims story is one of inspiration. We will pray for strength for you in the days ahead. Jims hand will always be on your shoulder, and he will be there in spirit for you.
I look at the tabloid newspapers in line at the grocery and think that the photos of Michael Douglas look so very much like my Dale. It is difficult not to get discouraged in this battle. We will fight, though, to the bitter end, as you and Jim have fought. Just know that you are truly an inspiration. Thank you.

Sally,
I am so sorry to hear
Sally,
I am so sorry to hear your news about Jim. I thought that he was going to walk out of the hospital as well.
It was wonderful to hear your stories about Jim. My thoughts and prayers go out to you today and words can't begin to fill what must seem unbelievable --- to not have Jim with you after over 53 years of marriage. I hope you know that your CSN family is here for you and will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Many hugs,
Cindy0 -
