OMG!!!!!!!!! I Love Lightning Bugs!!!!!!!!!!! :)))))))
I have always loved them, and, especially as a child, my sister and I would catch them in jars and watch them all lit up until we would fall asleep at night.
Well, tonight my hubby grabbed a bunch and squished them ( i know, it sounds gross ) and put them in a circle on my ring finger.
He looked at me and said " Now I give you a circle of light to show you how bright my love for you is tonight and forever more."
I started crying!!!!
I know it might sound corny to some of you, heck, maybe all of you, but, I will treasure that moment and my lit up ring finger in my heart forever!
So, I loved lightning bugs before, but, now I REALLY love them!!!
Sue
P.S. I don't think I will ever wash my finger again! LOL

AWWWW SHUCKS!!!!
Sue when I was a kid I lived in the south and we had those little lightning bugs and I too used to catch them put them in jars and fall asleep watching them flitter about, my folks would release them once I fell asleep. As my kids were growing up I would tell them about the neat little bugs and they would sit there in wonder being the California kids they are. Then my daughter married a trucker hit the road and soon seen her first lightning bug, she was so tickled....a few years later my son boarded a plane and headed to the south for a friends wedding, that night I got a text I still have it says "OMG lightning bugs are great and so funny!" They are a great little wonder aren't they, and your husband is a keeper for sure, glad you are so richly blessed.

I think its time for you to
I think its time for you to find a Lightning Bug as your avatar~ I am smiling so large at your story! Especially the "squished" part! Not that it isn't on some levels gross! It's just that evokes a mental picture of Kindergartners first crush and all of its heart-pounding glory, made all the better with you two being all grown up!
Lovely, romantic, spontaneous, and everlasting~ it truly doesn't get any better than that!

sharing a special moment
Thanks for sharing such a romantic and cherished moment. I too was fascinated with lightening bugs as a child. We would sit on the porch with a jar and capture them to watch for hours their mysterious lights.Being the nature lover I have always been, I would release them before going to bed, worried that I would end up killing one of them by keeping them in the jar. It was a favorite activity every summer in suburban NYS.
When my children were growing up, we lived in Queens County NY. Our back yard was full of lightening bugs. I passed on my fascination with these bugs to my two children (now grown). Now that I am a city dweller, unless we go down to the park, it is rare to see ligtening bugs. They are to me a true sign of summer and carefree days of childhood. Thanks for jogging such a wonderful memory.

We had lightning bugs in the midwest too! We'd catch them in jars and put grass in for them to eat-we were just kids. Then we'd let them go too. I haven't seen them here in Texas.
No lightning bugs in Texas either? I have gotten a geography lesson today! lol
Love your new picture Marcia. What is that in front of you? A big heart?

I thought it was a giant dog-bone, after I thought it was maybe, kinda, possibly something bordering on could be pornographic.
But thats just me...I am sooooo not well these days!

How Romantic!
Dear Sue,
Your husband's deed and words are very romantic. There is nothing corny about them. I know you will always treasure that wonderful memory. I love to hear how thoughtful and clever our mates are, especially during these difficult times.
Have a great 4th of July.

Wow! What a story! Thanks Sue for sharing this. That was such a heartfelt and loving thing for your Hubby to do and say! I can feel the love... (Even though they got squished)You definetely have a One-in-a Million! A treasurable moment for sure.
We had LB's in Indiana when I was a child. We see a few from time to time here in Florida. They do bring back such fond memories of childhood & always bring a smile to your face. I too remember catching them in a jar with my brothers. We used them for a nightlight while camping out in the backyard. Sometimes it was great to just lay back in the grass and see how many there were lighting up the sky. Ahh....the simple days.

P.S. This also made me think of how many times I would catch a caterpillar in hopes of seeing it turn into a butterfly. They were mostly black & orange striped. Never got any farther than the cacoon.0 -

Ekk! I never for a second thought that! It is at a rest area in Texas so couldn't be X rated! Now I've got to change my picture.

LOL @ Marcia! No, keep your new picture. Look at all of the different things we think it is. I can't wait to see what else someone thinks it is.
It is kind of like a game, isn't it? lol
Maybe, we should call it that...What is it? And, see what everyone replies. lol

This is not corny. I loved
This is not corny. I loved reading it. Just goes to show how much you mean to that man in your life. You are so blessed you tail wagging Ritzy kitty kat. Sounds like something out of a romance novel. I remember catching lightening bugs when I was kid, but no one ever gave me a lightening bug ring. So sweet!0 -

So happy that I jogged a good memory for you Kay! They are little mysterious bugs with their bright lights. It amazes me so many times at how perfect and wonderful nature is.
Sounds like a good thing to pass on to your children. They will never forget it, as, none of us will our encounter with the lightning bug! I just hope everyone can pass it down to their children and their grandchildren. Little things like enjoying them can create a memory that they will treasure forever.
Happy 4th Kay!
