Hey I've been doing that,
Hey I've been doing that, too, and I have "new growth" uptop at 4 weeks post last chemo treatment! It's sparse, but I'm sprouting! Arkansasgirl (?) ...can't remember her screen name exactly now... suggested tea tree oil shampoo. I got some at Wal-Mart and have been using it as well. I'm getting a little fuzzy, so something's working!0 -

I take Biotin, I'm almost four months out from chemo and I have a good head of hair going. I tried to keep it covered with only lightweight stuff when I was at home. Happy Hair Growing

Okay so I'll stick with the Biotin and see what happens. For wash/condition I use Shea Moisture on my scalp. I said I was just going to use good healthy products with my new hair!

It's Like Christmas!
I finished chemo last Aug.......my hair is now 3-3 1/2 inches long..MUCH longer than I normally wear it but can't bear the thought of sissors being taken to it....I ditched the wig and all scarves the beginning of Jan....for the New Year! But it was like Christmas every day watching my "new hair" grow back......Every day I had my husband do a "hair check"....we both got a kick out of watching it.......then the BIG surprise.......the top and sides came in SILVER and the back, my natural dark brown.....and the longer it got, the curlier it became.....I got rid of the silver, never had that before, and now I have a HEADFUL of not just curls, but ringlets! Tight ringlets......It's comical but ever so easy......wash, fluff and go! Easiest hair "do" I have ever had........I call myself carrot top!
Enjoy your "new hair!"0 -

Was wondering when does it start to grow back? I am day 14 after first chemo and it is starting to shed.....Just like all you smart pink ladies said.....The wigs are on stand-by..
I am a little ahead of you - I am going for #5 out of 6 next week and mine actually grows back in between treatments. The weird thing is that it is only the ones coming back in white or silver and some of them are an inch long. All of my dark hair just stubbles a little bit and then falls out again. Hopefully they will all come out of hiding this quickly when I'm done:)

Phooey, I'm sorry to hear you need more chemo, Heidi! You know what to expect and that you can get through it, but I'm sure it's disappointing.0 -
HAIR SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
Hi Rene9
I've had 6 treatments of chemo with last one on 9/28/09. My daughter went to Sally's
and bought me some Paul Mitchell (generic) TEA TREE OIL. It has worked wonders for me.
I've already had 2 hair cuts this year. I have always had short hair and very curly but now
it's not curly at all and I'm loving it. It's a little expensive ( $6.00 a bottle) but it
was worth every dime for me. If you get some, hope it works well for you.
God Bless You

Hi Emilyfimily
How you been? Glad to hear your hair is coming back in. I've already had 2 hair cuts this
year. My hair has always been curly but I've always kept it short and straight as possible.
Well it's coming back in almost straight and I'm loving it.
God Bless You

Hi! I'm doing great, thanks! Oh, wow, I hope mine comes back straight - I've always had curly hair too. So far it's hard to tell - I'd say it's going to be wavy if it keeps up what it's doing. Fine with me! That tea tree shampoo is the *stuff*. My hair's still sparse and spread out - especially on top - but what's growing is growing fast now, and I'm just barely starting to see little fine ones coming out where it's sparse.0 -

Hey Arkansasgirl! I also went to Sally's about 2 weeks ago and bought some Tea Tree Oil Lavender Generic! I've only been out of chemo for a little over 3 weeks, so just peach fuzz so far, but I see potential. I'll keep you informed. Thanks!

Hi
Good to hear even about the small stuff. I've already had 2 hair cuts this year. Really
more than that cause I trim my hair myself sometimes. But that stuff really worked for me.
More important though it's coming in STRAIGHT!!! LOL Loving every minute of it. I don't care if it gets wet anymore as long as it is not curly. When my hair was wet, it always
looked like I had 3 perms and the time and trouble I went to keep it straight. lol I've heard that things do just the opposite. I hope so!!!! Also the color was coming in a little different some gray & brown but I can tell you now it's the color it was when I
shaved it maybe a little lighter.
To all the ladies I hope to see you in the salon gettin a new do matter what it is.
The hardest part of all this for me was NO BOOBS AND NO HAIR, but that was really a
small part considering everything else we have gone through.
My motto: The cancer won the 1st battle and I won the 2nd but the war is not over for I
will not give up. As of Feb 1st I'm cancer free.
Best of luck to ya.

I've decided to stop taking biotin and let nature do its thing. Yeah, its only been 4 weeks post chemo and I am going blind looking for hair...I just need to be patient and look every other day right-

My final chemo was 5/17 and I also have peach fuzz growing sparsely. I am trying to be patient but I am also looking at my head everyday hoping to see it growing in more and everyday it is like ground hogs day....always the same. I had started putting some olive oil on my head because I heard this helps also and have also been taking the biotin. I don't know if it is helping my hair but I know it is helping my nails. You just don't know if what you see is nature taking it course or if it is something you are using. My oncologist said the products are not going to work...that it will grow back on its own. I also am spending more time at home so I can take the scarf off. It just seems to make sense that it will grow faster if there is nothing on your head more often than having something on it but who knows. You just have to do what you think will help and wait on it to show up I guess. I pray for all of us that our hair returns soon because I know for me it is a big deal as far as feeling better about yourself and how you look and I am sure it is for all of you also. Hang in there....this too shall pass. God bless.
