    Hang in there girl, your hair will be back soon. Here is a little bit more info. As you massage your scalp, if it moves good during the message your scalp is in good shape and not tight from stress. Tight scalp hinders good circulation for good growth. Massage it good or get someone to treat you to a good scalp rub. You can spend a fortune on hair products, which won't help growth unless you are health, eat well, etc. Your hair is a living organism, just like your finger nails. When hair gets to be close to 2" in length it is no longer a living organism, doesn't receive any benefits from the folical, that is why good hair products help keep your hair looking and feeling good. If your hair previously grew slowly or quickely you can expect the same results. My hair grew quickely before chemo and continued to grow quickely after chemo.

    I love reading your posts...You give great advice and information...But, yes my hair grew fast before chemo. The tea tree shampoo and conditioner I just bought by IC feels really good. My husband used it and enjoyed it too! I think we're both going to enjoy these products-I will continue to massage too-

    Hey I've been doing that, too, and I have "new growth" uptop at 4 weeks post last chemo treatment! It's sparse, but I'm sprouting! Arkansasgirl (?) ...can't remember her screen name exactly now... suggested tea tree oil shampoo. I got some at Wal-Mart and have been using it as well. I'm getting a little fuzzy, so something's working! :D

    HI, just wanted to say that tea tree oil shampoo can be really strong, so if you have sensitive skin, you probably want to stay away from it (itchy, itchy!)

    Hey-
    How bout my husband told me not to wash everyday. Normally if I had hair I would only wash it once a week...but I figured since I'm trying to stimulate my scalp...it won't hurt if I at least cowash evryday or every other day until I have hair growth. Anyway, I will keep posting updates and thanks again!

    I have washed my just about every day since I was about 13. Besides the chemo bald look I still have my hair. Kathryn

    Washing hair-
    GM! Now you know I'm African American so when I have hair I can't wash everyday... With a perm it will strip the chemical right from my hair. Now, if I chose to stay natural I might be able to wash it maybe twice a week, but I like mine straight. I have a cousin who has naturally curly hair and he washes his everyday.I have fine hair and I'll at least want some perm combed through-I think I am going to go ahead and start cowashing though-

    Hi Emily...I am just past my 4th treatment and have 2 left. I have a bit of peach fuzz going and am looking forward to my last treatment where I will start to have consistent growth. I, too, have always had very curly hair and am hoping that mine will come in straight....hey, a girl can wish!!! I am also going to try the tea tree products. Just wanted to say...I love your picture!!! Good luck and god bless!!!

    Hair!
    I can see hair and so can my family! They thought I was seeing hair but now they can see it too! It looks like a buzz cut with a little more on the top than the sides but farely even. It also looks light brownish red which is my natural hair color. I've had highlights once years ago. I've decided to take pictures of my head every Friday so I started yesterday at 9 weeks post chemo. I still take biotin and I wash and condition everyday. I also started tamoxifen yesterday. I also have 5 more rads. All in all...still waiting on hair so I can ditch the wigs! I've been told I may be able to by next month...we'll see!

    I'm using the tee tree shampoo and conditioner I found at Wal-Mart. It's in these green odd shaped short fat round containers. But, my last chemo was in April and my skin's not sensitive anymore. The whole time I was on chemo, I just used a little bit of baby shampoo when I washed my head. I think the tea tree stuff would have been too irritating back then.

    Me Too!!! I have about 3" ringlet all over my head. My husbands shop guys all thought it wasn't my real hair. Sometimes when I am out I'll feel someone touch the back of my head, it's a trip!

    At least you know it's anxious to get growing. It is an interesting process to lose all your hair and then have it grow back in. One of the few possitives!

    ...it's been three weeks since my last chemo.

    Since the buzz to minimize the trauma of hair loss between chemo 1 and 2, I have maintained fuzz. I never actually got the slick and shiny look.

    My hairdresser called to check on me last weekend, she told me her experience with other clients has been thick and curly to Brillo scouring pad. She said not to worry we can work with whatever comes out. Also, it will eventually get back to the original texture.

    I remember about an inch and a half growth between my six week appointments with her before. I wonder if it will ever grow like that again.

    I finished my last chemo just over a week ago. I am so tired of a peach fuzz head with microscopic annoying little hairs that I just shaved my head with a razor! Now, it is smooth as a babies butt, and I can quit playing with the little hairs. I figure, now I will know when the new hair starts coming in because I will be prickly again. I hope my head isn't so smooth my wig falls off!

    Still laughing out LOUD .. I finished chemo (intense portion)
    12/16 .. little prickly areas started to grow in at 8 weeks after last TCH treatment. I am on herceptin .. every 3 weeks until 9/6/10 ..

    I noticed the patches (yes, patches) of scalp hair first -- I examined my scalp 3 to 4 times a day .. yes .. it was very exciting .. I was distrubed that my entire scalp was not covered with hair re-growth. It takes about 2 months to get that Mia Farrow short .. boy's look.

    My leg and underarm hair grew in much faster, or so it seemed. My hair is curly, but I've always had a natural curl or wave to my hair. I had to pull my scalp hair and blow dry it daily, and slather up with gel to get it to stand straight up, otherwise - my top hair looked like a brillo pad. Not pretty on this white girl.

    DianeB - please stop shaving your scalp with a razor .. due to nicks and cuts -- rememeber our low white blood counts .. Personally, I used a lady pink electric razor on my scalp.

    Good luck and continue to measure all new re-growth ..

    Well yes I'm very anxious. I'll try to chill for a couple of weeks. I found a lady who documented her hair growth from 10 weeks and so I started last week at 9 weeks. She documented through 2 years and that was very inspiring. Having my hair back will put a lot of reminders behind me too...
