dumping again...
I tell myself that part of the reason I'm feeling like this is because I haven't been sleeping well... working too hard... pushing myself too much...
I turn on the news and my heart breaks over all the chaois in Haiti, or the fear of people loosing their homes in California... three people murdered on the local news tonight, haven't seen the sun in ... well quite frankly, I can't remember the last time...sometime in November???
I'm not crying... just so down...

Maybe you need light
Maybe you need light therapy. I'd do this when we lived in Connecticut and it was gray out. Turn all the lights on in the house and get it as light as you can. If you really want to be brave make one of those refectors out of tin foil and pretend you are sunning. I even read where one person turns up the heat and puts on shorts. I never went that far but whatever works. Hope you are better soon. Hugs. P.S. You could stop reading the news, at least till you feel better.0 -

I have periods of time like that and quite frankly its when I am tired and pushing too hard makes me feel more vulnerable and quite frankly sick. I think the weather has been a bummer and the news has been awful. Do something good for yourself. a manicure . I think sometimes I get really hormonal too. HUGS to you0 -

Sorry to hear you're feeling so down. It happens to all of us at one time or another. There are probably many reasons not the least of which is not getting enough sleep. I know that's hard to do when everything else seems wrong but when I'm not getting good sleep It really affects me. Try to do something different even if you don't feel like it. I go shopping (even if I don't buy anything), go out for lunch, see a movie or read a book, etc. Its been so dreary lately too. Remember the sun shines everyday somewhere and you'll see it again soon. Hope you feel better soon.0 -

Well I for one know that I suffer from light deprivation. When it's grey and overcast it's all I can do to get out of bed....when we had some snow days a week ago I literally laid in bed with my computer, tv and books for 3 days....As soon as the sun came back out I was up and raring to go... So,I just give in to it...I know it will pass and the sun will come back....0 -
Hi T
I do know how you feel...I have been in a slump myself lately I know that the sun makes a huge difference in our moods. I was diagnosed with S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) quite some time ago. The Dr. says it helps to tan or sit under lights. I don't do either anymore but it did seem to help some.
Also, sleep is a big help, Trazadone is a good anti-depressant/sleep aide that i have used from time to time and thinking of using it again.
The news is terribly sad lately...maybe get a good comedy movie...wish i could come over and watch it with you.
hugs and wishes for sunny days ahead,

Mix it up
Hi Taleena,
I am not sure what your health status is and if you are strong enough. But when living in NYC what
I used to do in the dark gray days is either visit a botanical garden, surround myself with exotic plants
and mentally get away or see some amazing art.
One year they had a butterfly exhibit at the Museum of history, I think I went at least five time. They
were soooo beautiful and you could in and they would surround you.
Where will you look for beauty?

Hi, taleena
I get down, too. Today I sat and cried about my bald head and how horrible I look, then felt so guilty about being that way with all the bad things happening in the world. I think about how healthy and energetic I was in 2008 after losing 50 pounds. Then gained 30 back and got breast cancer in Sept. I feel so drained from the chemo, it is depressing. You're not alone.0 -

Thank Marcia... Light therapy...that might do the trick. I actually have never heard about that one. It makes sence though. Stop watching and reading the news for awhile maybe a good idea for a bit too... I seem to watch a lot of news... and have you noticed??? It's never anything good!

Thanks Sunrae... Sounds like some good advise... something different... maybe then good sleep will follow... I really think sleep is the major contributing factor to my funk... Thanks for the advise.

Ayse... yes, you are right... I guess if I opened my eyes I would see that there is beauty all around me, it's where I chose to look... A walk in the museum may be a good idea... We do have one here, not the best, but it is something.

Oh Laurissa.... I guess what I needed was a reminder ... Crying is a good thing... my grandma used to tell me "the more you cry the less you pee"... (did you smile??) I hope you are resting and taking good care of yourself...

T, I know exactly how you feel. This has been a tough couple weeks for me. My husband's been out of town, I've worked six days a week, I've been sleeping less, and it's only light outside when I'm working. What a waste of light! Last Saturday, a lot of us expressed it as being lazy.
I don't have any magic cure: when you find it, let me know. But, you've had some good advice.

Thanks Joyce... yep, your right... I go to work in the dark, and come home in the dark... I love winter... but this one has been tough!
If I find the cure for these blahs... I will be sure to bottle it up for sale.. than all of us will retire in complete style..

I also know how you feel. I need the sun to make me feel human again. I'm also perimenapause so sleepless nights, hormones running wild come with it. I'm also triple +, so that doesn't help. My oncol. suggested that I get more exercise so I got a stretching tape that helps. I also go for a walk if I didn't sleep the night before and that helps me. I hope this all helps.
